A VERY ODD CLOUD FORMATION

Strange Cloud/Storm
How weird and/or creepy does this look?  We stopped to get gas the other day and I noticed some people pointing and looking up.  When we looked up, we saw this.  I snapped a quick picture with my phone.  The strange thing about it was that it had these tendril-like clouds hanging down that seemed to be constantly moving, almost like a giant jellyfish!

Definitely unusual and fast moving.  Even though it was ominous and apocalyptic looking, it was only followed by brief heavy rain...thankfully no tornadoes or hail or meteors or alien motherships.

  1. That is DEFINITELY an alien mothership of clouds. You were very lucky I think.

    1. Ha, that's what I thought too. Very freaky and yes, not sure what it was 'trying to become', but I think we dodged it whatever it was.

  2. Oh my, that IS scary. Is it just me or is the sky greenish behind it? You could be lucky that there wasn't a tornado because it might have been something like that trying to form but fizzled out. Definitely scary. I would have been in my cellar, just in case, ha. Becca

    1. Yes, the sky was greenish and I know that's a tornado sign. It was definitely interesting to look at and kind of awe inspiring in a way. I'm glad it just fizzled out. Side note, I'm jealous of your cellar, oh what I'd give to have one of those! My grandparents' had them (Oklahoma) and I always wanted one. Silly, I know. :-)

    1. I wonder where all that's coming from? A friend of ours said they saw a very strange cloud a month ago, said it was oval shaped and had lightning in it! Go figure. Let us know when you post some, I'd like to see.

  8. That is very odd looking. Keep an eye on the sky, watching the weather channel right now on the hurricane, looks like it is skirting away from Florida and heading more for Louisana, with tornado predictions too ... take care, check the emergency list just to be prepared, tis the season.

    1. Oh yes, we're watching the hurricane stuff as well. Every time they do one of their "model runs" it comes further and further West. The further West it comes, the closer we get to the "cone". Definitely keeping an eye on things and we are pretty well stocked just in case. I don't want anyone to get hurt or lose property but hoping it fizzles out is probably pointless, so I'll just hope for a weak storm and landfall in a remote area.

  9. To me it looks like a giant cat paw, getting ready to whap some misbehaving town underneath there!

    1. Ha, that's funny, I never saw that but now I do! I'm just glad the 'cat didn't strike', LOL! At least while we were under it! ;-)

  10. I've spent a lot of time this summer complaining about English rain. It's pouring yet again as I write. But at this time of year I don't envy your weather one bit. Keep safe you guys.

    1. Thank you, yes, there is always something crazy going on somewhere huh? Sorry about all your rain, it's always seemingly too much or too little huh? Where is the 'regular' weather? It's all crazy now, ha.
