I have them in the plastic to keep them somewhat mouse safe (I know they can chew but with the plastic I figure I can "see" if there has been activity. But I'll see what I can do. If we were there full time we'd probably keep the mice at bay with just moving stuff around but when it sits I wasn't sure how else to keep it safe. I do have them up on shelves in the tops of closets, surely the mice can't scale up the smooth walls, ha.

Love the greenhouse idea too. Save them, as they make great little green houses for seed starting. (more on that later)

Back to your cedar chest. If it's cedar on the inside you can just fold your blankets and lay them in there or store in old pillow cases. If your cedar smell is gone you can buy cedar chips and put a couple inside; usually bags of chips are found in the isle where the ironing boards, irons and laundry stuff is found. They also have some that you can hang in your closet. Cedar chips are also nice to put in your dresser drawers, etc. Honestly storing old quilts, blankets, etc is not a good thing. As they say; they need to 'breathe. (noticed I forgot the 'e' in comment above)

Now, back to your plastic. If you don't have old pans to line the bottom of your zippered plastic so to thrift stores and see what you can find. I have used old pie tins, baking sheet, round containers to lay in bottom of the bag; just something to hold it's shape.
When it comes to seed starting time, lay your pan to form the bottom and then set your seed starter pots on your pan, plant your seeds; mist with water, zip up the bag and set in warm place and you now have your mini greenhouse. If too much humidity builds up, just unzip the bag somewhat . You want the seedlings damp, but not soaking wet once they start popping through.
Colleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13106960827480062745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552387675026716797.post-77458815800777643852017-08-08T20:19:02.371-05:002017-08-08T20:19:02.371-05:00Off subject here.
