Maybe not a pier like this one but we might have something that will let you do some fishing!! That's a few years away but it's on our list of plans. :-)1st Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04861609647607912193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552387675026716797.post-73899388222624859072012-07-08T00:34:23.185-05:002012-07-08T00:34:23.185-05:00Thank you! He build up the berms on the sides (this keeps the water inside a contained area). They hauled in sand and other stuff, I think they had to line the sides with clay, it sort of acts as a liner of sorts, that keeps the water from draining out. Then there are "overflow" pipes and stuff that are put in, not sure all the details on that. THeirs was filled with a combination of a well that was dug specifically to put water in and then rain helped as well.

Long story short, it was pretty much dug by a machine and then just filled with water after some "preventative" measures. I wasn't around firsthand to watch it but I've read a few places online that do it. It is fascinating, that's for sure. Not sure we'll have a lake, but definitely a bigger pond.

Thanks for the comment, we're staying cool (it's actually been not QUITE as hot)....now we have rain, which we won't complain about, ha.1st Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04861609647607912193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552387675026716797.post-51839327749246902372012-07-08T00:25:00.198-05:002012-07-08T00:25:00.198-05:00Well, someday when we have a pond, we'll defin...Well, someday when we have a pond, we'll definnitely have ducks. Funny you mentioned them actually, 2nd Family, at the other end of our property, recently became the guardians of a little duckling. I say recently, maybe in May sometime. Now the little duck is HUGE. they are afraid she'll fly off, but she she's very friendly. they named her "Puddles". I can live vicariously through her for now, ha.1st Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04861609647607912193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552387675026716797.post-15430497827624983712012-07-08T00:15:26.071-05:002012-07-08T00:15:26.071-05:00Thank you! It got destroyed by a hurricane many years ago but I remember fishing (and catching) and crabbing off that pier and the fish fry parties after. How great to be starting a new job. :)

I have a question - it is going to sound silly, but if you could answer I would really appreciate it. How does one go about digging their own pond? Especially one of that size? And is it rain water that eventually fills it in? Or does it have to have a helping hand to be filled? [Okay, that was 4 questions - but I am soooo curious.]

Enjoy your week. Try to stay cool.SkippyMomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09479661523059481730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552387675026716797.post-49030742424084179822012-07-05T16:32:11.071-05:002012-07-05T16:32:11.071-05:00are you getting some ducks? a pond needs ducksare you getting some ducks? a pond needs ducksJohn Going Gentlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14958171262765033946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552387675026716797.post-51648525015652886042012-07-05T09:35:31.833-05:002012-07-05T09:35:31.833-05:00What a great picture!
