Storm clouds brewing |
Stormy weather and so far, nothing too severe (despite this picture!).
2nd Man, even though not feeling well himself, decided to make us some of his famous (in our house anyway, LOL) homemade chicken soup.
Chunks of chicken breast for the white meat, some thigh meat for the rich dark meat, heirloom carrots (yellow, purple and orange), small potatoes (red/white/purple), onions, garlic, parsley and...

...it was all cooked in rich, homemade chicken stock (he uses more veggies, wings and a pressure cooker to make that). That's really all I know, other than it's SO good. And on a cool, rainy, feeling sick kind of day, it is spot on perfect.
Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful so I'll head to the farm to check things out for the first time in almost two weeks, hopefully we remain creature free and all will be good out there. But for now, I'm curled up on the couch with one of the cats, full tummy, feeling much better.
Hope your weekend is going better and filled with things that make you happy!
Mmm, this looks sooo good! And I love all the colors in it.
ReplyDeletePerfect for curl-up-on-the-couch-weather like today.
It was very good! And you're right, it's very colorful, never thought about it (probably too busy eating it, ha). This was (and still is) good couch curl up weather. Tomorrow should be pretty!
DeleteWow, 2nd Man must be a chef? That looks like something in a high end restaurant. Enjoy, chicken soup is the best thing when you're sick. - Monica
ReplyDeleteOh now, don't go pumping him up too much, ha. No, he's not a chef other than a home chef kind of guy. But thank you for the kind words, I will make sure he reads the comment. It will make him smile I'm sure.
DeleteHere's hoping 2nd Man is feeling better! It is so true that chicken soup really helps. It's a must to keep on hand at our house but I have to say that those photos are inspiring for a new recipe!
ReplyDeleteWe have it pretty often, even in Summer when it's hot. Go figure, ha. Thank you much!!
DeleteThat does sound comfy cozy. Good soup always hits the spot, doesn't it. Hope 2nd man feels better soon and that all is well at the farm. Hugs. Deb
ReplyDeleteThank you very much and yes, all was good (more pics in upcoming posts). Thanks!!
Deletethat soup sure looks good! i am just about to make some of my own!
ReplyDeleteThank you, isn't chicken soup just so basic and good? I guess it really is good for the soul. :-)
DeleteNothing like chicken soup to make you feel better and home made is the very best.
ReplyDeleteEveryone's receipts are different but they all have the same good feeling when you eat them.
DeleteI've never had chicken soup with that many different veggies.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
He kept the chunks big cause I like it like that but really it's jus carrots and potatoes and onions. Oh and the garlic almost cooks away. Everything else is just for seasoning. But it is so yummy! Thanks!!!
DeleteThat looks...AMAZING! You know...since you know how to can, I would not object to finding a jar of home-canned chicken and veggie soup in my stocking, cough, hint, cough, hehe
ReplyDeleteI hope 2nd Man feels better
LOL! Can you CAN chicken soup? I never thought about that. Maybe that takes a pressure canner or something? I never thought about it. Thanks for the subtle, cough, hint. LOL!!!!!!
DeleteAnd I will pass your wishes along to him, in the morning when he wakes up, ha.
1st Man,
ReplyDeleteChicken soup, the best type of soup to have when one doesn't feel well.
((((2nd Man)))))) hope you feel better soon :-)
You could can the chicken and then can the vegetables in another jar. That way you would not need to process the vegetables so long. But, you can can chicken soup. I would consult Ball or ugs site just to make sure of your times. It does look good. Everything looks good to me, but I have not had water for a month and am not capable of doing all the washing of dishes, heating and carrying water, so I just don't cook.
