Funny how a color seems like one thing until you see it by another.
With the house newly painted...
...we realized that the barn and shed really need to be repainted. Of course, the same color as the house.
They will look awesome with a fresh coat of paint to match. Not sure if we'll have that done sooner or after we move in. The really fun part though, is going to be figuring out how to "connect everything", make it all look deliberate and like they've always been there. Connect flower beds, pathways, etc.
I have visions of a winding path that goes from the house to the area with the barn and shed. We have to find a new garden spot too. Might do that on the back side closer to the fruit trees.
So much to think about and plan for...but we'll work on getting these painted first.

This looks like it needs some white fence somewhere. I think the house, setting and everything looks beautiful. I have loved building with you two and look forward to every post. The painting of the shed and barn can wait for a little while, maybe when it is cooler and summer bugs are gone. You will stay busy enough getting the house sit up without adding new work that can wait a few months. Love you guys and glad we are friends on here. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYes, the barn and shed are a bit sun faded, so a fresh coat of barn red will tie everything together! Maybe a brick pathway to the barn and shed ... that would be a lot of bricks! It would be cheaper to just have a beaten pathway to both buildings! LOL
ReplyDeleteMove in, live there a year or two, then use the paths you will have made going to and fro. They'll be much more efficient and natural.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like red, it does fade; more-so than other colors. A person just happens to notice it more.
ReplyDeleteNo big hurry in painting your sheds. You just need to think about moving in, getting settled and enjoying your new home for awhile.
You both have waited Along time for this moment so enjoy it.
You both take care and have a wonderful day along with a fantastic weekend.
Blessings to you both.
Keep Cool
We repainted our goat barn and Dan's workshop earlier this year, before it got too hot. It's amazing how much the color fades over the years, even a good quality barn paint. Especially with our Southern sun! The nice thing about repainting is that you don't need as many coats to freshen the color.
ReplyDeleteA path through a kitchen garden would be nice.
ReplyDeleteThat project would be down the road for me. Make paths and grow things. It is going to be a wonderful home. practical parsimony
ReplyDeleteIt’s amazing how many shades of red there are.
ReplyDeleteHaving lived in hot sunny weather, suggest painting outbuildings to match sooner rather than later ... otherwise one will always be behind or ahead of others ... the sun fades fast ... ask me how I know!!
