I have not cooked beef in a few years, but I used reduced steak, getting the same results for less cost. I would buy steaks when on sale, then use several, just stacked in the crockpot. I use potatoes and carrots but do cut them up instead of buying the ones you used. Lots of celery, onions, salt and pepper are my seasonings. I have found the whole carrots are so much tastier than the ones cut like you used. Yes, I know they are called baby carrots. But, they are not. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are really enhanced using the same method and vegetables.
