It was rainy and overcast, so I figured it was a good weekend to get up in the garage attic and get our holiday decorations put up there. Still hot but at least it was a bit cooler.
I sorted the containers (our color coded ones) on the garage floor and went to work.
It took a couple of hours but I got them sorted and then it was time to get them up into the attic.
At the other end (closest to the pulldown attic door) we put all the Christmas stuff. The several Christmas trees we have are laying on the sides of the attic across the rafters (but still on the floored part).
We got it all up there so it was out of the barn and garage and is semi-organized. For the most part it's done, but when it's cooler this Fall/Winter, it will be easier to get up there and move things around to fine tune it all. Feeling a bit more accomplished.
Well done. I love how many boxes you have for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very well organized. Those color coded containers are a great idea.
ReplyDeleteHaving just hauled the ladder down and ventured into the attic to get Halloween and Fall bins down...I applaud you. At least mine are in bins... and one had a paper sticking out the top saying "Halloween"! Like you said, maybe when it is cooler!
ReplyDeleteWe store nothing in our attic; it has blown insulation in it same as the rest of the house. It does make the garage cooler in this 100 degree weather. We have a lot of storage in the house thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteWell done. I can't imagine getting in the attic right now!
ReplyDeleteJust a matter of time before them cooler days arrive and then we would wish it would warm up just bit.
ReplyDeleteGetting organized now, when you can so that you won't have to worry about it when it comes time to start decorating. If only my hubby would do the same when it comes to organizing.
So; do we all call you now? "The Organizer."
Enjoy the rest of the week. Stay safe and stay cool.
Blessings 2 U both.
Can't wait to see your home decorated for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI do have one caution - I stored stacked plastic bins in the attic and it got hot enough that the lids on the bottom one softened and sunk. Not all the way into the bin, but enough that it will never be the same. I'd recommend keeping the lightest bins on top or putting some 1x4" boards between each layer. Or if there's room - 1 layer topped with those lightweight odd bits that don't fit in the bins.
ReplyDeleteNice work on the decorations storage, love the color coded bins.
