FIRST THING TO DO

This is the first thing I did this weekend.

We just HAD to get a new mailbox.  It's just a natural thing I think.  Besides, the old one had some rust and was a bit wobbly on the post and the numbers were faded.  So I bought a simple one, the traditional kind, some reflective numbers (numbers were put on after this photo taken).  I took the old one off, strengthened the platform with some new screws, and then screwed this one in place.  Perfect and ready for us to receive mail.

Funny story, one of my coworkers saw the mailbox after I bought it Friday on my lunch break (from here) and she said that was what she always called a "farm mailbox".  Maybe it is because so many of us now have central boxes for our neighborhoods, or rooms at apt complexes or group sets at condos, or even ones on the wall of your house next to your front door (like our city house).  Maybe people don't often see these old school types.  One thing is for sure, they are very inexpensive.

So remember, if you give your house a face lift, don't forget about the mailbox, it's often the first thing people see.

  1. Send me your snail mail address so I can send you a house warming gift. I may not be there in person, but I am there in spirit. I am so glad to "see" you this excited. It's been a while dear friend.

There is snow on the ground at our "farm" today, so enjoy what you have!! We may get 3 -4 inches yet this week. :O

  2. Awww, what a sweet comment. Thank you. I'll foward that on in a separate email.

SNOW!?!?! While I wouldn't want the snow, I'd take some of the cool that goes along with it!

This seems to be a weird year for weather. We are a bit cooler than normal here. Still hot, but not AS hot, ha.

  3. We've had rural mailboxes at our last three houses....since 1973. Mr. Granny wouldn't get a lick of exercise if he couldn't walk out to the end of the driveway to get the mail each day!
