Beautiful flower garden |
Here is a flower garden that I really like. It's obviously more organized and formal than ones that I have shown before, but it's still just so pretty. Maybe it's the Autumn/impending Winter doldrums setting in.
I can't WAIT until next Spring. I want color!
It's not a bad idea, to carve out a little square patch of land and just experiment with flowers. I do love the hedge behind it but I know I do not have that in me to pull off. But it would make a nice cutting garden of sorts.
Today is blog day off, so I'll be back tomorrow and respond to all of your comments and have some new posts as usual.
Enjoy your Thursday, it's almost Friday!
So pretty. Looks like honeysuckle in the back and looks like tepee poles for them to climb. Thanks for the color. In Phoenix we are able to have color most of our fall/winter. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's nice to see some color huh? We still have some here but it's starting to fade. Nothing like this but a bit of color. I think that is honeysuckle huh? I didn't notice that. Thanks!!
DeleteI love this idea too...I have flowers here and there and all willy-nilly around the place. But I would love a big flower bed, organized, like this one...if somebody else would take care of it. lol
ReplyDeleteWho knows though? I managed to keep ALL my deck pots alive this year, so I guess anything could happen...
Ha, I'm afraid I'll have them willy nilly around the place too, ha. I keep hoping that by posting my favorite pictures, something will sink in next Spring when I start planting, ha.
DeleteAs much as I love flowers, I never seem to plant a cutting garden. Guess I like to put my limited garden energy into edibles, since I'm all about food!
ReplyDeleteMy first goal will be veggies as well, but I do want some color. I'll have to see which I have more energy for next year, veggies only or veggies and some color, LOL!
DeleteI think you need a potager garden, a lovely mix of flowers and vegetables. They are a feast for the eyes and the bellies, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI never knew what that was, I've heard it but didn't know what it was. I'll have to check that out. Of course we have lots of room for both but do I have the stamina for both would be the operative question, ha.
DeleteGardenweb has a potager forum, and there are some gorgeous gardens featured. Here's a very pretty one from that forum:

The owner has shown steps in interplanting his vegetables with the flowers:

Another favorite, I love the brightly colored ladders:

I always love your inspiration days. I too can't wait for what next year will bring in my own garden, colour wise. This year was all about getting things changed, digging beds, getting structures in. Next year will be all about the plants.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I've sort of done the same thing at the farm. This year was sort of about the inside and next year will be about the outside. Because our Winter's are usually fairly mild, I hope to spend it getting the land ready and the infrastructure in for the spring plantings (raised beds, flower beds, etc).
DeleteThanks, as always, for the kind words!
What a pretty picture. You know, that actually DOES inspire me to rethink my flowers next Spring. Very pretty, thank you! Love your blog by the way.
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you! That's very sweet. Hey, if it's an inspiration to me, I always hope it might be an inspiration to someone else.
DeleteOh that looks lovely! You HAVE inspired me now, because I see in that a 'Monet' picture! I AM so going to make my own 'Monet' flower bed now... and I shall blame it on you when I get more crazy looks! Hehe;) *marches off to grab string and spade!*
ReplyDeleteI love that description, a "Monet bed". You better share your pictures if you create something, it might be my inspiration if you beat me to it! ha.
DeleteOk I have told a few farmer friends of my planned 'Monet Bed'. I get a blank look and the same questions... "what's that?" followed by Why?" Whilst I witter on about it being pleasing on the eye, and it will 'feed my soul' I notice the little twitch in the corner of their eye. I just know they are working out lost grazing per head of cattle, and the practical importance and the waste of time involved. Yes, I am just confirming their worst suspicions... I am the eccentric English lady who hasn't a clue about farming! Ha! Ah well... my enthusiasm hasn't waned, and I cannot wait to dig out my 'canvas'. Photos most definately WILL follow!
