GREEN IS COMING BACK

I'm back, back on the Zen Machine (John Deere riding mower for those new to the blog).  A few weeks ago, the drought was so bad, the grass was all dead, well, I guess dormant is a better description. Click HERE to see that posting.

There was a lot of mowing to do after the 4" of rain we received over the last couple of weeks, so I saddled up the mower, put on the iPod with a little Adele 21, and off we went.  Took about 2 1/2 hours to get it done but it was a nice break and gives me a chance to clear my head.  And think.  And daydream.  All of which can be dangerous, ha.

  3. 1St. I have a john deere as well but my grandkids love to ride it so much I put twice as many hours on it riding them than grass cutting, but that is a very good thing. My 5 year old grandson always wants to ride to the beach, only about 4 blocks away. He doesn't say so but he likes to look at the girls on the beach. The kids do all the stearing I just have to keep my foot on the gas and be ready to hit the brakes if they go into something. They both tend to watch and see who is looking at them more than they look where they are going. It is always a great joy to operate a machine no matter your age. Have fun.

    1. Hi! Thanks for the comment, I can totally see you having fun with the Grandkids like that. And people watching would be fun. I have to animal watch, and nature watch, but that's heaven to me, lol.

Thank you for stopping by!! Come back soon!

  4. It never left the East Coast. That's why Country Bloke and I are building a massive jardin potager and enclosing even more space for the sheep to graze. Now weed whacking and mowing can be accomplished in about an hour. Gives us so much more time in our garden which is where we want to be!

    1. That's awesome, I can't wait to see pics of it. I wish it wasn't so dang blasted hot here. But once we have the basics of our garden up and running (water, pathways, etc) it will be much more enjoyable, even IN the heat.

  5. 1st Man,

Your grass looks good! I so wish I had that Zen machine, I still push a mower and we have all kinds of grass to cut. I went out about 10 minutes ago to check out the property and the grass in order to pull the mower out. Well, I can't I will need to wait another day or so, I have 1 inch of water all over the place.

    1. A push mower, I totally can relate. We had one for the first year but I couldn't keep up. Not being there full time it was impossible to keep up with it. We had to get the mower. Now I can't imagine not having it. Now about that inch of rain, wouldn't mind a bit more of that down here too, ha.

  7. We have had so much rain that everything is lush. One year, the St. Augustine got crunchy just before I was having an outdoor party, so I understand "dormant." Your grass looks good now.
