CONGRATULATIONS IT'S A DEERE

Here was my surprise anniversary gift over the weekend.  I know, I know, who knew a utility cart could be an awesome gift? But it is!  This is the John Deere 10P "Utility Cart".  It's designed to be hooked up to the back of my Big Green Zen Machine (i.e. mower).  This will be an asset for doing things around the property.

It has a carrying/hauling capacity of 600 lbs!  It has slots on the edge for railing and slots inside for dividers.   I'm thinking of figuring out some way to carry water tanks to make it easier to water the trees and (future) landscaping that are far away from the length of the hose and faucet.

And here's the best part.  It's a DUMP truck!  You get your stuff to where you want it, you push a lever with your foot and it tilts back and dumps out whatever you have it loaded with.  This will be a nice feature when loaded with dirt, compost, rocks, wood or whatever.

OK, I couldn't resist this photo.
You suppose the cart could handle highway speeds?  Kidding!
(warning, do not try this at home)

    1. It's ok, it can be a toy, ha. The hard part is going to be getting it dirty for the first time, and the second and the third...but by the fourth or fifth I probably won't care, ha. Thanks!!

  5. 1st Man,

Happy Anniversary!!! Congrats on the J.D. utility cart. I dare you to hook this cart to your vehicle and drive on a TX highway. You know those troopers don't have the sense of humor we all have.

Enjoy, this cart will come in handy on your property. I have the cart, just need the driving mower............

    1. Thank you!! That's very kind of you. Oh, that would be funny huh? But you're right, those troopers are a bit serious, ha.

This will most definitely come in handy, I can't wait to use it. So you have the cart before the horse? Ha. Hope you get your mower soon!

    1. My thoughts exactly...pretty, shiny, new, and I don't want to mess it up. But that will wear off soon enough, ha.

  9. Sure beats a necktie for usefulness. Put a faucet connection on a plastic 55 gal barrel and use it to water your trees. Barrels have a threaded tap, just get reducer down to faucet size. Have fun.

    1. OOOH, good idea! Could I pick up a 55 gal barrel full of water though? Sounds heavy, ha. Of course I suppose it doesn't have to be FULL, LOL. Thanks!!

    2. You could always put the barrel in the cart empty, then fill it up from a water hose before taking it to water the trees!

  10. Jeffers Livestock has a water bladder designed to fit in a wheelbarrow. It should wok well for you.

  11. Happy anniversary, 1st Man! Steve and I will have our 7th anniversary the 23rd of September, so we're halfway behind ya! Hope you enjoy your cart, and if you water that little red car, think it'll turn into a farm truck? :-D Love my F-150, you should consider getting one! GREAT for hauling all kinds of yard and farm equipment! Couldn't live without my truck!

    1. YAY FOR YOU TOO!!! Congrats (a bit early) to you both!

LOL about watering the car. I wish it would work that way, ha. Oh we will DEFINITELY get a farm truck at some point. Right now, since we are at the farm part time, we don't need it quite yet. 2nd Man has a big Jeep SUV and we use that for the big stuff and we use my Fiat for the quick trips there since it gets the great gas mileage, ha. But we definitely want a farm truck that we can actually just leave out there. Eventually, we will. And I lean toward an F150 (would love to have an old school one with a retro feel, ha).

  12. Ahhh, congrats on 14 years! I'm with you... I love practical gifts. Can't wait to see pics of you using it around the farm.

    Enjoy!
