INSPIRATION THURSDAY, FLOWERS IN A YARD

Flowers. Sigh.  That's all I want.  Flowers.  Color.  That always inspires me.  And I have always liked a random assortment of color like this.

I guess I'm just bored with this Summer's heat, and brown, crunchy landscaping.  I'm thinking this Fall and next Spring will be flower-palooza at the farm.  We're too hot now to even go outside, much less plant things.

BUT, there are some great sales going on at the local garden centers around town right now and I could go ahead and get some flowering plants.  I'd just have to baby them in the backyard in town and keep them watered every day.  Then I'd just have to get them in the ground this Fall.

Stay cool, the weekend is almost here!

Be inspired!

    1. I'm already making my list! ha. I stopped this weekend just to 'see what they had' and my mind went crazy at the possibilities.

  2. Yes, you should do that. This is so pretty. I also love lots of colors together. And there's the See Rock City bird house! That's right up the road from me.

    1. Now THAT'S cool. So that beautiful yard is near you! I am making my list of what to get. Maybe next Spring I can have my own inspiration photo, ha.

  3. My advice is to do your research and only buy heat & drought tolerant plants since you are only on the farm on the weekends.

    1. Absolutely! I am printing out lists of drought tolerant perennials best for our area. :-)

  4. I know what you mean. As we are still looking for our "forever" home - the last one we will buy I keep eyeing the lots on each one we look at thinking how a garden would look on them. Forget sq. footage and kitchen counters, I need to know that I will be able to [hopefully] surround the new house with color.

It has yet to get hot here. It is the weirdest thing. We are usually approaching the 100s with heat and humidity - but July decided it was March and August is pretending to be October. I guess I can't complain tho' - everything here IS green.

So? Come visit! I'll share. hee Hugs my friend. :)

    1. Ha, same thinking here. I didn't care as much about the house (though I loved it since I had been seeing it for years already) but it was more about the land around it. Not hot? I'll be right there, LOL!

    1. Don't you hate it? Ugh, it just drains you when you walk outside. Can't wait for that first cool day....it's always SO wonderful and fills you with energy for new projects. :-)

  7. I'm with you regarding the HEAT. I know I should be out there getting the ground ready as well as the pots but it is just too darned HOT and I just don't wanna do it. I'm gonna buy some seeds & start them and by the time it cools off they will be ready to transplant. Maybe just sow some seeds & they will germinate and come up when they are suppose to. I do that a lot with wildflowers for my area. Have a great weekend.

    1. Ha, ditto here. I look at my garden, or should I say "garden", and I want to do so much to get it ready for the fall but it's just so dangerously hot outside. You go outside and just stand there for a bit and then go, "um, no....".

Good idea about wildflower seeds, I'd like to sprinkle out some seeds for wildflowers. Or plant them. And just let nature take it's course and have them come up when they come up? Might try that.

  8. I picked up 5 Autumn Joy sedum at our Lowe's for $1 each. Woo-hoo! That's my kind of sale. :o) At this point, they're marking entire tables 50% off. Ladyhawthorne's advice is solid. Beware the pretty plants that lure you in with flashy flowers only to die the minute they're not watered. Have a great weekend!

    1. $1.00 each? WOW! That's a great sale. I'll look at my local Lowes (and Home Depot). Oh, and yes, definitely will find out what's best for us (and drought tolerant is my high priority). If I can have color and save water, I'm good with that.
