BOOK GIVEAWAY

It's the holiday season and time for giving, so we're going to have a giveaway!

A couple of weeks back, I blogged HERE about starting our composting adventure for the farm.  I found this book the other day at lunch and since it's geared toward beginners, I bought two so that we could give one away.

This is the GREEN GUIDES edition of COMPOST by Rachel Strauss.   It covers 'how to use', 'how to make', 'everyday tips', 'why we should compost', 'what you can and can't put on your heap', 'different types of bins', and more.
It's 256 pages long and full of information.

So who wants to join us on a composting adventure?

As always, and for those new to the blog, the rules are as follows:

You need to be a "friend of the farm" (follower) and then leave a comment here on this thread letting me know that you want to be entered, because after all, it might be a book you already have.

The contest will run until midnight at the the end of the month (next Saturday night at midnight) at which time I'll randomly pick a winner and then you can email me your address at that time.

The contest is open to everyone, even those in other countries.

One entry per person.

Thanks and good luck!

CONTEST IS OVER, BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN SICK, THE DRAWING WILL BE HELD LATER IN THE WEEK, WINNER ANNOUNCED THEN.

  7. That would be awesome! Please enter me as well! :) I have an old-fashioned compost out back (I built a box out of wooden pallets that I pulled apart), but I don't know a whole lot about composting, so this book would be great. :)

  10. I've been "composting" for years. But just throwing food scraps in a bin outside, watering it a bit, then throwing it through a screen the following spring & using what comes out (which is not much) does not a true compost make, as you know. This book would surely help me to do a better job & get a richer, more usable end product! Thanks for offering such a nice giveaway.

  12. I can use all the instruction available. Give me a chance to win this book, will you? I waste nothing. Found out this summer that my crushed eggshells helped to grow the most beautiful silky grass patch on the planet; yet it could have been the coffee grounds and tea bags.

  14. Not sure I am a friend of the farm but I read the blog daily. Love your vintage posters. The compost book would be a great addition to my collection of "how to" books. Composting is something I have always wanted to try.

  15. I have a very small plot that I started last summer. I bought garden soil and Black Kow to try and amend the soil, but it needs a lot more. I had a few pitiful tomatoes and peppers and a few okra this past summer. Nothing like the big garden I used to have on my mother's farm. I've planted collards for the winter. So far, they aren't doing very well either. I live on the coast and the soil is very sandy. I really need to start a compost pile. Would love to win your book and give it try, so please throw my name in the pot!!.

  17. I'd love this book! I've been trying to compost for years but it doesn't seem like I've ever gotten the recipe quite right as it takes a long time to break down. This book sounds very helpful!
