FLOWERS IN THE COUNTRY, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Country flowers, image from sunsetliving.com
Just some random pretty flowers on this cold (for us) Thursday.  I like when flowers are just sort of randomly growing, deliberately random in appearance anyway (I'm guessing).  When I'm riding around on the zen machine, I'm always eyeballing spots for future areas like this.

Plus I like seeing color now that cold is here.  Soon, all will be brown and dormant, and our dreams will turn to Spring.

Hope you are having a good week.  We're cold here, finally.  We dipped into the 30's for the last two nights.  Chance of rain this weekend though, UGH, but we'll just have to see what happens.

Be inspired!

  1. 1st Man,

Pretty picture of flowers. Everything's pretty much dead here with the low 20 degree weather.
I'm staying inside today, with a nice hot cup of coffee.

    1. 20 degrees....sigh. Everything just stopped growing and went dead and/or dormant huh? Stay warm! Great time to plan next season, right? ;-)

  2. The flowers are so pretty, but my eye went right to that patch of squash growing behind them! Just shows you that you can have both pretty and practical, and they complement each other so well.

    1. I noticed that but wasn't sure it was squash. That's awesome. It DOES show that you can have both huh? I like that idea. In a way, you could create flower beds and while you would still have a garden, it might be fun to tuck a few veggies in the flower beds huh?

    2. Oh, yes! There are many veggies that look quite beautiful among the flowers. Squash need a lot of room, but tall broccoli can serve as a background plant, many colorful lettuces for borders, scarlet runner beans on a trellis. One of the prettiest plants I ever grew was a Red Egg eggplant, but unfortunately it tasted terrible! I especially like pepper plants and alliums in a flower garden. I guess I should have planted a potager!

  3. They are beautiful. And, with the flowers & the vegetables....it's almost like nature planted it....in no specific design. We are enjoying the beautiful Arizona weather and we are expecting a shower maybe this weekend but it won't be as much as you have had. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.

    1. I hope you get your much needed rain. I like what you said, that's what I always think about when I'm drawn to 'designs' like this, I love how they look random and casual. Have a great weekend too!
