HAPPY STAR WARS DAY

Yeah, we're children of the Star Wars generation.  We both grew up with the original trilogy of movies and they remain fond memories.  A few years ago, people started celebrating the movies and their legacy in pop culture by unofficially calling today "Star Wars Day".  The play on words of the catch phrase from the movie, "May the Force Be With You" is definitely fun.

Since today is when we usually post an image of a vintage poster, I think we'll go with one of these fan produced Star Wars "propaganda" style posters.

Hope you are having a great weekend!
I'll update the weekend later and reply to comments...

  1. AWESOME! I didn't know about Star Wars day but just googled it. I think I'll go out and rent some of them. May the 4th be with you too (I love saying that, ha, thanks)

  3. Shame that they butchered what was an icon. :)

    1. True true. The first one was particularly bad, but all three of the prequels were lacking. I'm only hoping that JJ Abrams does it right for the next three. I loved his retelling of the original Star Trek so I'm hoping for good things with Star Wars sequels. P.S. Glad to see you back!!

    2. Mmm, Oh, That JJ Abrams! I thought you meant the other one. I really enjoyed the rebooted Star Treks. Quite good.

      Let us hope.

The upcoming TMNT looks particularly butchered as well. (Eventhough the original movies were downright goofy for children)

  4. We moved here in 1977. The little girl behind us named her cat Luke Skywalker. Her father would walk around the block, calling "Luke Skywalker." The little girl had to have her cat. It was hilarious. I loved Star Wars but probably not as much as little boys.

    1. Oh my gosh, THAT is a funny story. "Luke! Luke Skywalker! Where are you?" I can only imagine. Yeah, I think Star Wars was a boys movie.
