RAINY DAY WITH THUNDERSTORMS

Well, today was a washout at the farm.  We actually started to head out there and I noticed dark skies on the horizon.   We checked the radar and large storms were moving into the area.

Since many of the roads around the farm flood in heavy rains, and tomorrow is a work day, we figured it was best not to head out to the farm today and get stranded (though I couldn't think of a better place to BE stranded, ha).

The farm has already received over two inches (and counting) of rain today, according to 2nd Family.

This is the National Weather Service forecast for our area over the next few days.  We are near the white dot, just outside of the 7 1/2" rainfall total...in the 4" area!  This is a lot of rain coming.

UPDATE:  We have had tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings, funnel clouds in the area, hail in spots, and some areas have already had from 5" to 6" of rain.  We are currently under a tornado watch and a flash flood watch.

Well, at least the dewberries and fruit trees and garden will have lots of water.

Hope your weekend was good and not a washout.

  2. So far, 6.5 inches today SW of Houston - yeah! Possibly more on the way. All the farmers, and everyone else, in this area are very happy! No flooding - just plenty of much-needed rain.
Your little farm is going to be so happy too!
    I love rainy days!

    1. WOW! So you are in the monsoon area they showed on the news tonight. Hey, as long as you didn't get any flooding or damage, it was a good rain. I think we ended up with about 3" at the farm (2" here in town). And more coming! Stay dry!

    1. How did you end up? We have had some flooding around the area but the win has helped the drought situation.

    1. We had some funnel clouds, even some near the farm according to 2nd Family. The worst is over but a chance for big stores later in the week.

  7. Arizona could sure use some of that rain. Maybe the Hurricane in the Pacific will send us some much needed cooler weather and RAIN.

  8. Thunderstorms are in the forecast all week long. Neither Sunday nor Monday say any rain. There were a few pop up storms in the state, but not enough to forecast thunderstorms. Our summer weather pattern started last week, so this should be a good, long, humid, hot summer.

  9. We are having another wet turn in the SE across the pond it was only a few months ago we had all the floods that satayed with us for ages, going over the fields to see to the Alpacas I am wading through 6-8 inches of water. I am so glad we are going to be living up a mountain when we move no more flooding.
Stay safe with all your tornado warnings over there at least we dont get them.
