Nature provides us color when we least expect it. These lovely yellow flowers are springing up all over the place.
When I mow, they are all along a lot of the paths. Of course, as I mow they make me smile. Definitely 'zen'.
And when we go for a walk around the property, they are popping up in fields and are definite smile makers there too.

Here is a close-up. I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like a species of wild coneflower. They grow just like a regular coneflower does and I think I found them in the Texas wildflower database. It's called a Prairie Coneflower.
Yellow flowers are happy flowers!
Here we have the black-eyed-susans all over the place. Including my garden. They make me smile too.

DeleteAin't that the truth! We have black-eyed-suzies (as my husband calls them) and they are one of my favorite flowers. Happy, yup, that's it in a nutshell!

DeleteYes, I do believe they are coneflowers. Right now, my naked ladies are all I have to make me happy--36 in a row. I wish I had fields for flowers to grow. My friend lives in the country and just buys packages of seeds and sows them with abandon all along the road in front of her house and all over their many acres. She says they make her happy when she looks out the windows of her home office. We need happy flowers.
ReplyDelete36 in a row? I bet that is pretty. I never thought about sowing seeds just randomly everywhere around the property. I did one year try throwing some down along the fence lines but of course, nothing happened. Maybe I need to just poke holes in the ground and stick in seeds. I wonder if there is a tool that would make that easier, ha.

ReplyDeleteBees and butterflies like this flower, it’s drought-tolerant, it seeds itself, and of course it’s pretty - a purt-near perfect flower. They are also good for cutting - so get a Mason jar and put a bunch on your weekend table for a spot of yellow-happy inside!
Yellow is a happy color for sure. "Fields of Happy" I like that!! You know if I tried this on purpose it wouldn't work, ha. I love the mason jar idea, will DEFINITELY do that this weekend and share the photo results!!

I've heard that she was very prolific in getting wildflowers all around the state. The wildflower center is on our list to go visit sometime. Thank you for the pic compliment!
