LOG FLOWER PLANTER, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Log planter, image sourced from the internet
OK, we don't have any tree on the property that would ever have a trunk like this, mesquites just don't grow like that.  Nonetheless, we're just fascinated by this picture.  I've had it on the hard drive for a long time so I have no idea where it came from originally.  I've seen it on several gardening forums over the years.  Someone has taken a log and obviously cut a trough of sorts down one side of it and then used it as a planter for flowers.  I'm guessing it wouldn't last forever but it sure is a unique conversation piece.

Hmm, I suppose we could have a log delivered sometime?  LOL!

Be inspired!

  1. I love this and I have lots of logs like this one. We have an old homestead with many old trees that sadly have died and we've had to remove. Thanks for sharing. I love your inspiration photos. I don't care if you've implemented them or not yet. I look forward to them.

  2. What a beautiful and clever idea. That would look so gorgeous at your farm. I love the rustic beauty of it!
Sometimes there’s a big wind storm that blows over a tree this size - that would be your chance to get a portion of it for your planter.

  6. 1st Man,

I have a friend up in Canada who has a log with flowers.
Her husband made it for her, along with this gorgeous wood coffee table.

  7. Like many posts above, this one I'm going to do. We have so many fallen logs on the property that have the centre already rotten away, or eaten by termites. It won't be hard to do this at all. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

  8. I've only recently discovered your stories of adventure and inspiration. It's a keeper. Thanks for the interesting reading and this particular point of inspiration. One in which, most likely will become part of my landscape next spring.
