FISH AND VEGETABLES MEALS, VINTAGE POSTER SUNDAY

Fish and Vegetable Meals, vintage poster image courtesy of Wikicommons
Here's a good one.  It dates from WWI, and comes from Canada (those Canadians know how to eat, ha).  This one urged civilians at home to eat more fish and vegetables so that the wheat, meat and fats would be saved for the soldiers and allies overseas.

This one is interesting though because it looks like it could easily be a healthy eating poster today.  Eating more fish and vegetables and eating less wheat, meat, and fats would be a good thing.

Hope your weekend is going well.  We are in another day of rain and cold  So far, we are at a little over 1" of rain and highs only in the mid to upper 30's.  But for a few degrees of temperature, we would have had snow...an extreme rarity for this part of the state.

More later today and I'll catch up on comment replies.

  1. Nice, colorful poster. Looks like the fixings for a healthy and pretty good meal! Or a soup to warm up this cloudy, cold day. Stay warm!

    1. It does look like a good meal huh? Man, it's cold and yucky today though huh? Definitely in where it's warm. Hanne't gotten much done but oh well, I guess we need those weekends on occasion.

  2. That is a beautiful poster! I wish I had some of it cooked right now. That is certainly healthful eating. It has gotten up to 46 today with prediction of rain from your direction. However, there is none of the predicted rain today. Maybe it will never arrive or just be virga. The air is damp and it's just cold enough to hurt!

    1. That's true, it's a good healthy meal for sure, fish and veggies. I think there is a bit of a warming trend...next weekend, as of today anyway, shows 60's, and NO RAIN! yay! Maybe I can get some stuff done outside, if it's not too squishy and wet.

  4. Great poster! So glad y'all didn't have snow! It's tough enough when the weather is pretty cold and it's very wet. It seems like that cold dampness permeates everything! Keep warm!
