ANOTHER WET WEEKEND

Tires almost stuck in mud
NOTHING got done outside today after the rains stopped.

Well nothing except almost getting 2nd Man's car stuck in the yard.  Oops!  I pulled up close to the house to unload some landscape timbers and opened the door and stepped out into a deep puddle.  Next, I realized my shoe was stuck in the mud so I got back in the car, of course, getting mud on the carpet.  When I started the engine and put it in reverse, the tires spun before finally backing up.

I parked it in a high spot in the yard, though as you can see below, standing water was all over the place.  I put on the rubber boots (I swear, I love those things), unloaded the timbers and decided to just do a few things inside.

Standing water in yard
I stayed a few hours and came back into town.  Rain gauge showed almost 7 inches total over the last week and a half.  It was worth the round trip though, when I came home 2nd Man had prepared this for dinner...

Stuffed pork tenderloin over polenta
...bacon wrapped, stuffed pork tenderloin over polenta and peppers with roasted mixed vegetables on the side.  It was a wonderful way to end an otherwise mostly unproductive weekend.

  1. I'm on my way for leftovers!

I, too, have a love for rubber boots. This rain gives you time to rest up because when it stops there won't be a rest til winter again.

    Have a wonderful week.

  2. I don't even feel like cooking, so that dinner looks sooo delicious. I just went out to close the hens' pen and had to avoid the soggy path I have worn. It has rained for about 48 hours with another 12 hours predicted. Pork loin is on sale this week. Thanks for reminding me to buy one.

  4. We are in the same weather pattern I think. It just won't stop raining and have time to dry out. Maybe the bluebonnets will put on an extra special show this year. Please send a pic.

  5. Stuffed pork dinner looks wonderful.
Not much we can do about the rain so might as well enjoy it while it's here.
On cable TV they have a weather channel - 24 hours of weather. We had something like that where I grew up. We called it a window.

Weather is a great metaphor for life–sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, and there’s nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella. ~ Pepper Giardino

Remember; without the rain we would have no rainbows.

    By the way; Noah called saying he would be there in an hour to pick you up. :}

  7. I think we're all moving in with you two. Or maybe 2nd Man could open a restaurant as you keep taunting us with all these pictures of amazing food. Of course we're jealous! At least I have memories.

  10. Another amazing supper from 2nd Man! He has a definite gift for cooking and baking.

Rubber boots are one of a gardener’s best friends. Mine have sure been getting a lot of use lately.
My present vehicle (and the previous one also) has 4-wheel drive - great for self-rescue. So glad that you didn’t get truly stuck out at the Farm! Enjoy the sun today!
