THE LONG HOT WEEKEND

Not sure if a photo can convey heat, but if it could, you'd be sweating right now...

No mowing, no edging, just watering and unloading a bunch of stuff from town into the house, barn and shed and lots of sweating.  The porch was a nice respite from the heat but still...our hottest day so far, with "feels like" heat temps of 110+.

I think the cats have it all figured out.  Find a cool place to sleep...

curl up...

stick your feet out and sleep...

all day...

long...

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Mostly uneventful here. Just stayed around either in town in the a/c or when we went to the farm, stayed inside there with the a/c on.  No end in sight it seems.

  1. Ugh...just ugh. I know I complain about the heat and cold in equal measures (ha-ha) but I would rather be cold than hot because I can add layers as opposed to being limited by how much I can take off. It has been hot, humid and rainy here. I am over summer and ready for fall.

    1. I've always said the same thing...I'd much rather be cold, because we can keep doing stuff to get warm, but lets face it, when you're hot and naked, you're still hot. Wait, that didn't sound right, ha. You know what i mean.

  2. Urk. I hope you get some cool relief soon.
My father always told us that if we were too hot or too cold to see where the animals had settled, kick them out and take it over, because they knew all of the best spots. On this side of the world it is chilly, and both cats have snuggled into cosy spots and are curled up tight as a ball.

    1. LOL your father had wise words, ha. I forget that as hot as we are here, it's cold for you. Stay warm! Cats find great spots don't they?

    1. I know it, and I know you are ready for Fall, I'm looking forward to it more this year it seems. Maybe the wet spring and the hot summer has just been yucky. (to put it gently, ha)

  4. It was really hot and humid here, too. We wound up finishing an area in our yard with rocks - which meant loading, unloading and spreading 70 bags of egg rock. Talk about hot and miserable... Glad it's done though.

    1. 70 bags? Holy cow, I would have passed out, ha. But it's got to be a relief that it's done. Now go rest!!

  5. We're in League City for the week visiting our son. We stopped for lunch Sunday at a restaurant with outdoor seating available. There were lots of people out there! In the heat and humidity! The restaurant had AC so there was no doubt where I wanted to be, but there were people inside at only one other table. I guess some people actually get used to this miserable south Texas heat and prefer it to cool comfort indoors. I just about melted walking in from the car with the sun beating down on me. Those outdoor tables were under cover, but, good grief it was still miserably hot. Toward evening it did feel better with a little breeze, but not at lunch time.

    1. Been here more than 30years, STILL not used to it, ha. We went to a restaurant the other afternoon and they said "would you like patio seating?". I was all "Ummm....seriously? No!' ha. The car is hot, never cools down, it's hot going to the stores, work the house back to the car, never cools off until you stay somewhere for about 30 minutes or more, ha.

  6. 1st Man,

We know it's just a couple more weeks and the weather will change again here!
I think the heat was a bit much for our dog even though he was just out to do his business.
We've been keeping an eye one him, making sure he drinks plenty.

    1. They are saying rain for us, "possibly" this weekend, but we'll see. I would like the rain, just to water things, but next week shows back to 100+. Sigh.

Yes, thanks for the reminder about pets....they need to be watched just like us.

  7. Well, your cats sure know how to handle the "dog days of summer" - just lay around and chill!

    1. Yep, just lay around under the ceiling fan and sleep. I think I could handle that, LOL!

  8. It's soooo hot. Franklin has it figured out. He naps on the cool tile floor in my bathroom.

    Love,

    1. Oh that is too funny. They are smart aren't they? Sydney, our late great kitty, used to sleep in the porcelain sink in the bathroom. Smart kitty!
