BISCUITS IN THE MORNING

Woke up to a mess in the kitchen...

...but it was because of this!

YUM!

Homemade Biscuits
2nd Man had made fresh, homemade biscuits...sigh...one of my favorite things. We had them with real butter, homemade dewberry jam (our second to last jar).

BISCUIT RECIPE HERE

It was a good start to the weekend...hope you are having a great start to your weekend as well.  We have some cool "ish" weather, just running errands and not sure how the weekend will play out.  We have an event to attend tonight in downtown Houston so we'll be in town today.

  1. My compliments to 2nd Man - everything he cooks is delicious! Oh my goodness, those biscuits look sooo good! AND with homemade dewberry jam!! And probably with butter! This is bordering on unfair teasing of my taste buds!! Kinda reminds me of the youtube video of the talking dog being told that someone else was eating his favorite treats, including the maple kind of bacon.
But you’re not totally heartless - you did post the Farmhouse Biscuit recipe a couple of years ago. So that’s what I’m making for breakfast tomorrow!
    Have a great weekend!

    1. Edited to mention butter, thank you, yes, gotta have fresh all natural butter. And I edited to link to the recipe, thanks for the reminder. There is something so uniquely southern about biscuits huh?

And side note, I loved that video of the 'talking' dog, that was so funny!

  6. every time i cook anything, the whole kitchen is a mess! making things from scratch recquires a mess! those biscuits look so delicious and we have been following 2nd Man's recipe since you first put up the first post (remember? jambaloney even commented!!!). the biscuits above look like they were to die for!!! they look feathery and layered and light! i would have eaten the first 6 with just butter, they would have been for breakfast. then i would have eaten another 6 for dinner, with butter and your dewberry jam. the next 6 i would have eaten with supper. and then another 2 for snack that night. are there any left after all of that? if so, you know i would have enjoyed another 6 for breakfast the next day.

bahahahahahah! i just love how feathery and layered they look. deeeevine! sending much love! your friend,
    kymber

    1. I try to clean as I go, 2nd Man just is like a whirling dervish of pots and pans and empty cans and bags and, well you get the point. But hey, I am ok with any mess if the result is yummy.

You sound like us with the biscuits. We eat at least 2 each hot out of the oven, then have actual breakfast, and then a couple for lunch and sometimes a few with dinner. They usually don't last much longer than that. Much love to you both!!!!

  7. I got up with biscuits on my mind this morning, tried to talk my grandson into wanting some, and failed. He is usually my best biscuit-eater but must have sensed my attempt at manipulation. Anyway, the need for biscuits stayed, so I made them this evening. I added s little sugar, pretended they were shortcake, and served with strawberries and whipped cream. They were good but nowhere near as beautiful as 2nd man's are.

    1. You know, I never thought about that, I should suggest that, putting some sugar in them, maybe sprinkling some on top and making shortcake. YUM!!!! Thank you for the kind words of course!

    1. I hope it comes out for you. He pretty much does the same thing every time, though occasionally, for whatever reason, sometimes they are slightly different. Maybe humidity, temp, or something.

  13. Magazine picture perfect.
I so remember the first time I made homemade biscuits; was shortly after I got married.
They where so hard that they could had been used as clay pigeons , plus the doge enough turned up it's nose and walked away. Could had knocked out a person with one of them rocks.....so called biscuits.
Have learned A lot since that time, 46 years ago
