OVERSTUFFED TURKEYS

No, not the birds...US!!












We once again did our vertically roasted turkey.  Here it is oiled up, seasoned and ready to go into the oven...












...and here it is a little less than one hour later.  YES, ONE HOUR...for a 13.5 lb bird.  All hail the benefits of a vertically roasted turkey!

Turkey, fresh rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, cranberry salsa, and a side plate of roasted Brussels sprouts (didn't fit on this plate, LOL).  

And we still haven't had the homemade pumpkin pie yet...


We think Brisbane and Hobart have the right idea...they have already had a snack of turkey and now a nap is in order!

  3. wow, you had me at "one hour'. I just spent 4 hours trying to get a turkey to look beautiful and yours still looks better than mine. haha.

  5. Oh yum...looks delicious! Just wondering about the cranberry salsa - is that different from cranberry sauce?

    1. It is, thanks for asking. It's cranberries with some jalapeƱos and seasonings to make it sort of sweet/hot. It's something I've always just made up each year and sometimes I've even jarred it up to give as gifts. I'll have to see if I can put together a recipe (since I sort of just make it up as I go along, ha).

  7. holy cow, color me impressed. I've never seen, other than frying, a turkey done in an hour. I just read through your previous posts. That's really neat. Thanks for sharing, might try that next year or if I can find some after thanksgiving sales, maybe sooner, bwahaha! Thanks for sharing. Jenny

    1. Glad you liked. It's so easy and so quick. In fact it's so quick you have to keep an eye on it. We used peanut oil once and it smoked a bit. Olive oil was best. Thanks!!! And good luck!

  9. What a beautiful, delicious feast y'all had! That turkey looks absolutely gorgeous! I've been looking for a vertical turkey roaster like you have but can only find the chicken-size.
    Brisbane and Hobart look sooo contented and cozy! So cute how they're snuggled together.
