BUSY DAYS AHEAD

Sorry for my absence Thursday, on Inspiration Thursday again no less!  More realtor stuff to do and make arrangements for, BUT....documents have been signed, inspections done, counter offer accepted, survey done and now they are setting the closing date!  The tentative date is 12/29.  Nothing like closing on almost the last day of the year!

For those who may have missed a post, we are selling our house in town, downsizing and moving to a high-rise apartment downtown.  It's the last stop before being at the farm full time in a few years.

SO, for the next week, we will be crazy busy packing, cleaning, moving and who knows what else.  There are a thousand and one things to do.  Our moving van comes one week from today!!!

Oh yeah, and Christmas falls in there somewhere!!!

Posts will be sporadic...but I'll try to get something posted as regularly as possible, and I'll try to catch up on comments too.  Just know we're super busy. Besides, we might find something exciting as we finish cleaning out everything.  There is more to take to the farm, but not sure if we will go this weekend or do it during the week.

Hope you have a good Friday and a start to the weekend!

Any moving and/or packing advice?

  1. If you’re using a moving company be sure to read the insurance coverage. It’s usually around twenty cents per pound for damaged item and rarely covers the cost of items lost. Consider buying additional coverage if you have costly or antique furnishings.

  5. Hi from sunny Queensland,
So good to hear the process is moving forward, time will fly so fast.

Do not let anyone help you unpack at the apartment, you won't be able to find half your stuff for about a year. ...ask me how I know !

Try to put your things in places as near as you can to where they were in the house, you will then have a clue to finding particular items, dish towels and tablecloths 2 drawers under the cutlery, spare blankets top shelf of linen cupboard etc.you can always refine your placements as you settle in.

Mark your boxes with a brief summary of contents and the room it is going to.

Have a box of essentials at the apartment on moving day, tea or coffee making supplies, snacks and a meal that is heat and eat in case you are there at lunch time.

Have dinner out at somewhere nice (reserved ) the night of the move, as a reward for the stress of the whole process and something to look forward to as you deal with all details of the coming weeks.

Be VERY strong and declutter as you go.

It is really exciting to know it is all progressing and the countdown has begun.

  7. So glad that things are going forward with the home sale for you. Just remember to take care of you. You don't want to get so run down you get sick and miss the holidays or the beginning of this new journey. Merry Christmas!

  8. When I moved into my apt I labeled every box with which room it was to go in and I put a corresponding sign on the door or wall of that room, color-coded of course. Sometimes being a little OCD works very well. Good luck with the move!

  9. Congrats on selling your house. Hope you have all the packing boxes you need. Take Care and Happy Moving. Merry Christmas too. M

P.S. Put the cats in crates when you have the doors open a lot. As they may get spooked with all the stuff going on.
