SEEING STARS

Look what we have...

OK, so as most of you know, our house in town is on the market and we currently have an offer pending.  While it was showing, i.e. "open houses", realtor's often suggest you do stuff to "add interest" to bare spots.  Well, we have this large, tall, privacy fence in the backyard.  Our realtor said to get some things that could be focal points on it since the fence is the first thing you see from the back door when going outside.  She suggested some sort of metal artwork for the space.  This might not have been what she had in mind but...

I was at the store one day a few weeks back and saw these...

STARS!!!

Stars we can use at the farm!

You know me, they were on clearance as the store closed out the garden section to get ready for Christmas.

This wasn't their final position on the fence, I just took them down and put them all together in one spot for the photo.  The large bronze colored ones are THREE FEET across from point to point!  The two smaller white ones are half that size.

Barn Star (what it will look like when painted and hung)
Soon when we have to take them down to move out, the stars are going to the farm.  We're going to paint them using an exterior white of course, and figure that we'll put two large ones on the barn...one on each end.  The two smaller ones will go on each end of the mower shed.  That will leave us with one unused large star...we're thinking somewhere on the house to tie it all together.

We can't wait!

When life asks you to buy lemons, squeeze them and make lemonade
(my adaptation of the old phrase for this situation, LOL!).

  1. i read this post and all i thought of was paul oakenfold's "starry-eyed surprise"...am i dating myself? and oh yes...i loved raving!!! (look up the lyrics and video to his song if you aren't familiar with it - i love that song and still blast it and sing my head off to it. poor jambaloney just hangs his head in shame! bahahahah!)

your stars are beautiful...and it is a wonderful thing for the soul to look at the stars and reach for the stars during our entire lives! put those stars everywhere that you will be able to see them throughout the day and lift your souls to the sky as often as you can! good job, like usual.

and sending much love to you and 2nd Man, as always! your friend,
    kymber

    1. sorry...left out an important part....the chorus of starry-eyed surprise is "seeing stars, i'm seeing stars"....so that's why your post reminded me of the song.

  2. Humn...wonderful idea but I have to admit the post title made me thing of the last time I bashed my head! We took 7 years to get my property sold so we could buy 'Our' ideal farm and it was agony but now we are here and insanely busy we are so happy. I look forward to seeing what you do when you become gentleman farmers!

    1. LOL I thought about that after it posted, people might think I bumped my head, ha. 7 years? Holy cow, I don't how you did it. Well, once this closes, we will only rent the apartment and will own the farm. Now we have to work on getting the house and infrasttructure ut there up to speed for full time living and in a few years, we can be out there. Clock is ticking and we're excited! Thank you for the encouragement!

    1. That crossed our minds but even the 'small' one probably isn't small enough. But hey, I have faith I'll find the right one when the time comes. :-)

  4. 1st Man,

I do understand about putting up metal art around the house, it makes for a great focus target for home shoppers. We've put up a store on the brick wall next to the pool in hopes when we put our parents' estate up for sale someone will snatch it up. We're down to the wire on getting the house ready :-)

    1. Getting a house ready is a lot of work (and expense). I can't imagine the emotion added in for you. Thinking of you and sending positive vibes! Hey our art got the house sold, hopefully a good sign for you.

  7. Love the stars! What if for the last one you did an antique bronze finish and did some dried flowers or berries around it?
