NEW ADDITION

I mentioned a surprise yesterday.  Here it is.

It was time to let "Luigi" go (my Fiat 500).  It's the little red car you've seen on this blog with every sort of plant sticking out of it....

In fact, this was just a few weeks ago.  A pear tree and some bushes.  It's funny, when I bought them, the guy at the exit checking receipts said "do you need help loading?" and I said no.  Then he said "you gonna put all this in that little red car?" and I said "yep".  And I did, as evidenced above, ha.

But even though I was able to fit things in my car, I was still limited most of the time.  That meant I had to use 2nd Man's bigger SUV and with that, the inevitable "what did you put in my car?", "what are all these leaves?" questions.

So it was time to move on.  I thought about a truck but I think the truck will have to come when we are out there all the time.  I'm not just a daily truck person...yet.  Or we may just get a third vehicle, a good, old, used truck and leave it at the farm.

So I chose this:

It's a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk off-road edition.
Extra clearance.
Water proof undercarriage.
4 wheel drive (yep my very first 4x4)
It has tow hooks on the front and back AND a regular trailer hitch
(hello, trailer shopping soon!)
Rubber off road floormats that I can take out and hose down.
And of course it might be off road/trail rated but it also has navigation and satellite radio and some self driving type of features.
But best of all, I've got more space to carry stuff.

Now I just need a name.  I'm like that, I like to name my cars.

It's white, the picture above is exactly what mine looks like.

In fact, he got his first taste of the farm this weekend.
Here are some more pictures.

White like the house...

Red and white like the barns...

Our dear friend Dawn said it's the perfect blend of rugged and elegant.  That's a good description.  A combination of "in the city" and "off road".

Let the new adventures begin!

  1. Beau ... elegant and gentlemanly but ready to roll up his sleeves and get dirty if need be!

Enjoy the new vehicle and may it carry you, Second Man, and all your gear safely for many years.

  2. Great set of wheels there. I Like the white with black fenders.
    Nicknames:
    'Jeepers'
If into Star Wars, could call it 'Storm Trooper' cause it is white with black fenders and it refers to Star Wars

    1. Now THAT is funny, love it. Of course, I have a friend named Barney (the only one I've ever met in life, ha) and not sure if he would approve but I like it. :-)

  5. Oh, I agree... it's the perfect farm car! I still carry lots around in my old HHR.... it sits too low to the ground to be perfect, but I can still get lots in her. It's a beauty, too!

    1. I used to have a PT Cruiser back in the early 00's and loved it (I know the HHR was designed by the same guy). I really miss that car. I hear ya!!!

  6. Since you named your other car Luigi, in honour of its Italian heritage, I would suggest Joe (as in GI Joe), because of Jeep's heritage.

  8. You bought a JEEP!!! I should explain, the adverts for 'Jeep' in Australia has someone saying "I bought a Jeep" then the other person answers all astounded "You bought a JEEP!!" Do you have the same Ads over there? Seriously nice car.

    1. I've never seen that here, that's cool. Of course, I didn't know they sold Jeeps there. I bet I can find it on youtube. Thanks! And thanks for the kind words!

  9. I thought a tree had landed on your car, necessitating a new purchase! I was never, ever a truck person until I started getting trash off the streets...lol. Now, I think I am a truck person. Or, maybe I am a Jeep person. I laughed at 2nd man's reaction to your use of his car.

    1. I think I'd like a truck someday but for now this will work. A truck is certainly much easier for hauling and picking up things. And yep, 2nd Man really would on Monday's usually, go "why is there grass in here?" "there is dirt in the back seat" etc. Now it's going to be me asking myself that, ha.

  11. I love your new vehicle! It’s perfect for both your city life and country life. And it looks really cool too! It’s great that it has extra clearance also, in addition to all the other extras. So many future fun adventures await!
As for a name, since your kitties are named after Australian cities, how about “Oz” for your Jeep?

    1. It's got a different look, kind of futuristic, kind of jeep-like. It should last me quite awhile...i like the Oz suggestion too. Thanks!!!

  12. That's a good looking Jeep. How about Willy in honor of Willys Jeep of years gone by? Willie or Willy sounds very down-to-earth and hard working, but fun to me. Whatever you call him, enjoy him. I love having a vehicle that can haul a lot without worry. Mine is 16 years old and I have no plans to trade up.

  13. I am a car namer also and currently drive Lois, a dark blue mini van. Before her I drove Earl a black Pathfinder. You can probably tell you do not want me naming your car!

    2. Roy Rogers' sidekick had Clarabelle. That sounds a little "clunky" for your beauty but........

  15. To further the white [work] horse theme, you could name it Silver so you could be like the Lone Ranger and yell "Hi ho, Silver, awayyyyy!" every time you headed to the farm.
