HOUSTON ASTROS 2017 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS

No words.  It's been an incredible series and after the devastation of Harvey and the disaster our city went through, we needed this and we got it.  The Dodgers were a great opponent and they played some great games but in the end, we did what we needed to do and for the first time in our 50+ year history, we have won the World Series.

Love this shot..this is Minute Maid Park baseball stadium home of the Houston Astros (with the roof open) which sits in downtown Houston.  Side note, our apartment building is in this photo, ha.

As I type this post, even up here  more than 10 stories high, all we can hear are people cheering, horns honking, news helicopters flying around, fireworks, and people just yelling and whistling and having a great time.  It stands in stark contrast to just a couple of months ago when it was pounding rain and wind, emergency sirens, Coast Guard helicopters, boat motors, and people crying.

We needed this.

We are indeed #HoustonStrong

Be inspired!

  3. Congratulations to the Astros! They played an EXCITING World Series. I'm an avid life-long Cardinals fan, but I was rooting for the American League Astros. Have you seen the 2014 Sports Illustrated cover (with George Springer on the cover) predicting the Astros would be World Series champs in 2017? The team ownership did a great job of building a great team. I'm happy for them and for Houston.

    1. It was wasn't it? I'm not even a big baseball watcher but we watched every single game from about September on. Our DVR is full of shows to catch up on, ha. That magazine is incredible....so surreal. But we'll take it, it all came true!

  4. When I saw you posted, I knew it would be a celebration. I called exbf and he was anxious to get off the phone. He was testy, saying he was watching a baseball game, the World Series. Okay, I get it. I suppose I will never mistake the Astros for a football team ever again.

  6. That SI cover with the Astros on the cover from 3 years ago was so incredible. They even had Springer on the cover, of all the players they could choose, and he was the MVP?!?! Insane. Yay for the Astros.

  8. Fabulous news! When a community endures loss together, any kind of win is that much more sweeter. Enjoy Houston!

P.S A beloved niece of ours is moving to Texas soon to explore interior design possibilities. Can't wait to hear this little Illinois girl's impressions of your big wonderful state.

    1. Yes...just saw a great story on the news about how the Astros became even more determined after Harvey, and talked about this in every locker room pep rally. It has really made the city so excited and happy. Thank you.

Coming to Texas huh? Yay! I hope we leave a good impression on her, ha.

  11. My husband is searching for all the champs stuff. I did find a jacket online I might get him for Christmas. Would like to find a wool one but don't know where. He is over the moon. Me, I remember Cesar Cedaneo (sp?). We go back that far.
