SPRING IS IN THE AIR IN NOVEMBER

The big carpenter bees were all over the still blooming purple vitex...

And the lantana (including a bunch of butterflies).

The collards are coming up nicely (though I'm guessing they'd like cooler temps too).

And look!  You see the little green sprouts coming up?  That's garlic!  Fingers crossed!

What's this?  Why it's one of the plum trees...

They are BOTH in full bloom.  We have removed the blossoms but it sure was pretty while it lasted.

And what it this, a Spring thunderstorm? No, it's an Autumn thunderstorm and with that, the weekend was cut short.  It was 82 this weekend, we broke a record for the date.

We are ready for Fall...wherever it is!

  1. Why did you remove the blossoms? Fall is here and you are welcome to some of mine.

    1. So they don't expend energy trying to produce fruit and focus on root development. Especially right before Winter (if it ever comes, ha.)

  2. 1st Man,

I think the weather, along with the wildlife is confused!!!
It's cold here, and suppose to warm to the 60's this weekend.
Enjoy your warmth while you can....soon it will be cold again.

    1. Heck, I think we're confused too, ha. Yep, if it's warm, wait it will be cold, if it's cold wait and it will be warm.

  3. Same here, we are seeing things in November with animals and birds that seem so confused. It's crazy. And one of our trees that never in 30 years has bloomed in the Fall, is in full bloom.

Cold will come, I think, haha.

  5. I love the pictures of the bee on the Vitex and the butterflies on the lantana. The insects know that they had better get the food while they can. I think this kind of weather is called Indian Summer.
I'm so happy that your garlic is coming up and the rest of your garden is doing well.
