WEEKEND WASHOUT

To the East it was overcast but blue skies...

...but to the West it was getting darker and darker.

Sure enough, about 15 minutes after we got there, it was a monsoon rainstorm.  I wish we could send it in to those in the parts of the country and world that need it!  We have more than enough to go around.

Needless to say, no mowing.  We ended up with about an inch and a half of rain.  I did some things in the house, small projects (more on those upcoming) and then I head back into town.

Today, Sunday, is rain again.  Not pouring but enough that we can't do anything outside.  Hey, at least I didn't have to water the fruit trees.

Today we are lunching on one of our favorites.  BLT's.  This is homemade bread, and then of course bacon, lettuce and tomatoes.  I like mayo on mine and 2nd Man likes Miracle whip.

Aaaaand....obligatory Hobart picture.
Because.

Hope you are having a good weekend!

  1. We where well blessed with some much needed rain this week. The other day we received an inch and yesterday and this morning we received just a little over 3 inches. The other evening tho when we got that inch of rain we also had hail and very strong winds of which hubby had replace and repair some shingles on the roof, along with some minor stuff but the rains sure did help.

That BLT sure does look delicious. I think I could eat them morning , noon and night.
    Great pose of Hobart.

  2. You're getting more rain than I am. We've had mainly some showers - but enough to give the grass and trees some nice drinks.
I'm sure your fruit trees are happy with getting some rain in this hot summer. But it is frustrating making the drive out to the Farm, trying to get some things done, and then not able to.
I love the picture of the rain from your porch - nothing better than sitting on a porch listening to, and smelling, the rain.

Delicious picture of that BLT - with homemade bread - yum!

Hobart with his regal look - he is such a beauty.

    1. It was crazy, the rain was definitely scattered. Way more out there than here in town. But that's the way weather in these parts goes does' tit? Ha. Oh and front porch rain is THE best. A distant roll of thunder....love it. Hobart said thank you! ;-)

  3. Well, at least you had a nice day in the country scenery. I always look at those dark clouds and assure myself they will clear up so I will have blue skies all over. Of course, I lie to myself sort of wishing it would be true. I am getting little rain even though it is all over. YAY for 2nd man. I just won't have a sandwich if there is no Miracle Whip. I have lots of tomatoes from the market, so I think I will make a BLT.

    1. Hope you enjoyed that BLT. They are so good. It was a nice day in the end. And I do enjoy Miracle Whip but I'm still a mayo fan in the end, ha.

  4. Does Hobart seem to miss Sidney?

    1. We don't think so. They never really were close. It wasn't like Sydney and Brisbane . Sydney was the only cat Brisbane ever knew since he was a rescue 2 week old kitten. Hobart came along after the other two were old and bonded and he never really became part of the "group". He seems happy and since the move he's become more lovey.

  5. Aw the rain and the lack thereof here in Oregon. Lots of smoke still hanging around from forest fires near and far....I need to breathe! Not had rain in months and I water my flowers everyday. I did get two cherry tomatoes off a couple plants today when I got home! YUM! We had a busy but good weekend. At least you got to go out into the country!
