MULTICOLORED SIMPLE FLOWER BED INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

As Summer comes to a close, and our own flowerbeds are now just a mass of dead plants and weeds (more weeds now than dead plants) we are reminded about what can be done when we see a picture like this.

It looks like they are all annuals but the mix of colors is just so vibrant and colorful.  We think next Spring we may just do something like this to shake things up a bit.  Our flowerbeds are almost identical to this.

Be inspired!

  1. Beautiful.
Yes, those are all cool loving plants. Potted mums would also be pretty added in for Fall.
Mums will come back next year depending on when and where they are planted: Spring or summer – If planted in spring or summer, mums will have ample time to establish a good root system. If the soil is not too wet during the winter, they will overwinter just as other perennials.

  2. That is very pretty! I am looking forward to fall so I can go out to the lake place and do some heavier work that is just too hard in the middle of summer.

  3. That looks just lovely, so colourful and cheerful.
If you have thevspacevit might be a good idea to grow something that flowers through the cold months to help out the local Bees....we all need to do what we can to keep the population strong and healthy. ...Bee numbers are at risk.

  4. Really beautiful! There are pretty annuals for each season that would really brighten up your flowerbeds. For fall/winter, I like pansies or violas, snapdragons, calendula, stock, and curly-leaf parsley.

  5. Do it! As a commenter says, planting mums or perennials in a raised bed should be awesome!
