HEINZ NEW MAYO HYBRID OFFERINGS

So...we saw this in the store the other day...

It all started with them coming out with a combination of mayonnaise and ketchup.  This is a popular thing to do, and I will admit to doing it myself.  Heck, it's just a few ingredients away from either Thousand Island dressing or few other different ingredients from Russian dressing.  For years, "fry sauce" has been a thing as well and it's the same combo.  People have been mixing the two for years (I have done it with my french fries and chicken tenders).  But that's just it...I can do it myself.  I'm not sure I need to buy it already made up and of course if I can mix it myself, at least I know what's in it.

Does the world need this?  Some sort of weird condiment equivalent of genetic engineering, ha!

So anyway, back to what they have.

Since this new creation has apparently been flying off the shelves, they have done it again:

MAYOMUST

A combination of mayo and mustard.  2nd Man and I imagined that it could be used to mix with egg yolks and make deviled eggs.  Or add some to potatoes for potato salad.  Quick and and easy.  Of course, once again, you can also just mix them together in a bowl you know, with a dollop of mayo and a dollop of mustard.

MAYOCUE

Yep, you guessed it, a mayo and barbecue sauce combo.  I can honestly say I've never done mayo and barbecue sauce.  Is that a thing?  I guess it is.  Or is Heinz just running out of ideas?  What's next?

Mayoelish?
Mayoranch?
Mayobasco?
Mayoestershire?

What say our faithful readers?  Yay or nay on this new hybrid line of condiment splicing?

  1. I have seen their new products on shelves but instead of buying them, I make all my own dipping sauces. If you like a little heat, just add in a bit of your favorite hot sauce.

    1. Hey if nothing else, they give us ideas on combinations to make ourselves, ha. And hot sauce would definitely be added to any creation we did too (in moderation, ha).

    1. 2nd Man loves Miracle Whip. I grew up on it too but prefer mayo on my sandwiches more often.

    2. I understand Peg, it's what we grow up on. I think in my house my Dad liked Miracle Whip and Mom liked mayo so we sort of had both, ha.

  4. I saw the ketchup one in the stores, mind you, Canada (at least where I live) is always late with the new food stuff! I always mixed mayo and ketchup for burgers and fries. With a little relish I think you have the Big Mac "secret" sauce lol...you're right though, very much like Thousand Islands dressing which I also love! I don't know about mayo and mustard though!!!

    1. When I make my mustard (French's yellow mustard) sauce I don't use any mayo. It's either honey or pure maple syrup, along with a little Soy Sauce finely minced garlic, tiny pinch of ginger and pinch of dried or freshly chopped dill, and if you want , can add a splash of hot sauce.
Good on hamburgers, hot dogs or whatever.

    2. Rain, I'm with you, I think people have been mixing mayo and ketchup for a long time. And I've heard that same thing about McD's secret sauce.

Colleen I like your secret sauce recipe, yum! I might have to try that next time we have burgers. Thank you!

  6. But, it's not blue plate mayo, so it wouldn't be any good.

    1. OMG Blue Plate is SO good isn't it? I actually had a side by side taste test of my own with that and a couple of others. It was by far the best (in my opinion of course, ha).

  9. I thought I saw a sriracha mayo but googled around and don't find it under the Heinz brand ... though I did see a Cadbury (easter) egg flavor one .. ewwww... don't think that needs to be a thing....

    1. Now that's something I've done, mixed Sriracha and mayo, it's yummy! I didn't know they had it at the stores. But Cadbury Easter egg with it? YUCK!!!

  10. I make my own also. I put in some horseradish. Yellow mustard, mayo and a bit of horseradish is great to dip shrimp into in place of catsup based cocktail sauce.

  12. I need to try it before saying yes or no, it just looks really unappealing to me. Maybe it's an age thing, I probably would have liked it as a teenager. At seventeen my favorite snack in the evening was four or five fried eggs covered in ketchup.

    1. You know, I've always said I'd try anything once. But it does seem like something we can just do ourselves since all of us almost always have those things in the fridge.

Fried eggs and ketchup? I love scrambled eggs with ketchup. Nothing wrong with that.
