Every Thursday we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm. Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and someday, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

Would love to do this. How simple and pretty is this? Of course for us the appeal is the whole package, the fence, the grass, the rustic nature of the galvanized container etc. it just screams "farm", ha.
A galvanized tub, drill some holes in the bottom, fill with soil add some pretty flowers and instant decor.

I like the rustic look of this. That would look great; placing 1 on each side of your driveway up towards the house.
ReplyDeleteAround here, them old galvanized water tanks like that, well they want Big bucks for them. Can buy one new and distress it to make it look old.
With the fire ants that we have here in Texas, I would mount on top of cinder blocks and then lay a sheet of wood on top or spread some vaseline on bottom portion of the blocks to keep the ants from crawling up and then set the planter on top.
In a container that size; put some 'filler' in the bottom; flattened milk cartons, empty water bottoms, old, small planter containers(the black ones that you buy plants in), etc. Anything for filler to keep from using so much dirt in such a large container.
On my shepards hooks that hang my hummingbird feeders on, I put a little Vaseline just around the bottom potion; about a foot high from the ground to keep the ants from crawling up.(you only want it on the bottom section of the hooks and Not the top.

ReplyDeleteSo pretty! This will be perfect for your Farm and so easy to set up. You could have some perennials and then add annuals for pops of color in each season.
ReplyDeleteI love it. When you need a bath, you could dump the flowers and fill it with water.
ReplyDeleteNice thing about something like this is that with the property you have, you can just about place it anywhere; by your shed, outside your garden gate, close to your bee houses once you get them set up again; just about anywhere.
ReplyDeleteIf you didn't want flowers, could use as a veggie bed; use for growing potatoes or even a herb garden and have close to the house.
