PLASTIC PRODUCE BASKETS TRASH TO TREASURE

Regular readers know that I have a favorite place to look for bargains...our downstairs trash area!  Our building has trash chutes on every floor and they feed into a separate room, but for boxes and other things that people can't put in the chute, there is an area (indoor) near the loading dock where people can put the things they don't want.

I've found several cool items over the last couple of years.  Here is one of the latest!*

*pre-quarantine

Found these two baskets.  There is a restaurant in our building and we're guessing that these are produce baskets.  One had a sticker that said "mushrooms" the other said "tomatoes".

There are little tabs/posts on the top and bottom and that allows them to lock together for stacking.

Or they can be used separately.

We're not sure how we'll end up using them.  I'm sure they will someday be great for produce from the garden but for now they are in the barn/workshop.  I'll use them to store smaller or unwieldy things on the shelves.

The long weekend is almost here, hoping weather cooperates as I need to mow and edge and get some deer deterrent fencing up.  Our forecast for next week has rain almost every day.

  5. WOW! How convenient that you where able to retrieve them baskets. Baskets like them can be used in so many great ways; spray painting them in a pretty bright color, line inside basket with plastic bag; putting small holes in the bottom, adding potting mix and plant flower in them for beauty on your porch or wherever. (that is what I do with wicker baskets that I find at thrift stores, etc.)
    Or you could just line the basket with burlap and just sit your potted plants right in the basket.
    Of course they are also nice for storing / hauling small items in going from the city - the farmstead.
    Enjoy your day; have a great weekend. The rain is moving in.
    It is bound to rain all next week...……..hubby is on vacation. It Always rains no matter when he takes vacation.
    I must say; it really puts a damper on things on our planned projects. :{

  7. I'm a produce manager at a small grocery store and I quite often get shipments in those containers. The best ones fold flat. Our produce company does want them back so they tend to stack up. I've brought home a half-dozen that I use for everything. They really do come in handy!
