Have scored a couple of these recently...
This is sort of a trash to treasure as I've found them downstairs, but they probably really are "trash", ha. We've never used milk crates like these before, but we think they'll be useful for storage at the farm, in the workshop/barn. They are sturdy and seem like they'll hold a lot of weight to carry things around...
...and they stack firmly together which makes them great for putting on the shelves and storing things. If I find some more, I'll snag those as well.
Anyone have any ideas for other uses?
Great find! You don't find them much anymore. I have a couple that we store items in the garage in. They are so useful.

Them milk crates are very useful for so many things.

Those will be great for harvesting your garden vegetables this summer. You can also rinse your produce in those crates if needed and the water will drain right out.
ReplyDeletestorage, standing on to reach tall stuff, spare chairs. There was a beachside cafe in Melbourne that used them as chairs with a cushion on top. We have lots (it seems to be an australian thing) and use them constantly. I never go camping without one - they make a great camp chair/ table/ or thing to stand on to put the roof top tent away - and then we pack the gas bottle away in it for travelling

ReplyDeleteAnother great find with lots of uses! You could store onions and potatoes in them. A storage ottoman with a cushion seat. Outdoor side tables for drinks or plants. Even nesting boxes for future chickens!

ReplyDeleteI stored books in my crates for years, but I always wanted to zip-tie a bunch together to make a kind of set of cube shelves.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in college (about 212 years ago), these were everybody's preferred record collection storage bins because you could just pick them up and move them from one dorm or apartment to new dorm or apartment.
ReplyDeleteAnd they are worth quite a bit right now! I have about a dozen that I bought from Walmart a year or so ago for $26/6. Went to pick up another set for strawberry towers and they are over $100 now! I couldn't believe it so I checked Amazon and Ebay too! Same, same! We will make a strawberry towers out of something else this year!
ReplyDeleteDollar Tree has 3 pod stackable planter layers for $1.25/each layer. There are some great videos out there using them. One lets you create a self watering system with water bottles and a drill.
