Well, it's a rainy, wet, yucky weekend. But it's also a long weekend (we're both off Monday) so it's a good weekend for reading, watching TV, and relaxing.
Oh and eating.
Baked tortellini and broccoli salad |
On Friday night, I made broccoli salad (RECIPE HERE) so it would sit overnight and develop the flavors and then yesterday afternoon, I made baked tortellini (RECIPE HERE) that is really more like a lasagna. They are a good complement to each other. By the way, we broil it at the end so we can have a crispy cheese top.
Pound Cake |
2nd Man woke up and decided since I was doing the main parts of the meal, he would bake a pound cake with vanilla glaze. So yummy. He just uses the traditional recipe of a pound of eggs, pound of sugar, pound of butter, and pound of flour. Then extract flavoring of your choice, etc. It was a great dessert.
With all this food, we'll be repeating the meal a few more times this long, rainy weekend.
Hobart |
And of course, it might be raining, we might be relaxing and resting and eating, but Hobart is patiently waiting for us to give him his food. Because...
#notspoiled
Hobart has that look of a parent totally disgusted by something the kids did! LOL
ReplyDeleteHA! That made us laugh. Yep, that's the look. Probably something we did for sure, ha.
DeleteMeal looks scrumptious. Is that Hobart's place at the table?
ReplyDeleteIt was yummy, yesterday and again today. Probably finish it all off tomorrow. He can't jump up on the table by himself and he never really did even when he was younger. But he loves sleeping up there on occasion so usually on the weekend, we'll put out a chair and he can jump up on that and then on the table. He does usually lay in that spot, using his front paw as a pillow. This time we caught him giving us the eye, ha.
DeleteIt looks like Hobart is very unhappy with whatever you did or did not do that he wanted. Our Binx just turned 6 months old this week and every day is an adventure to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI think it's his resting grumpy face, ha. He was rolling around just before this picture. come to think of it, maybe he wanted to play more, ha. Ah, six months old, we remember those days well. They are such little personalities. Love to Binx!!
DeleteThere’s all the components of a relaxing week: delicious food that makes several meals, some much-needed rainy days, and a sweet kitty to cozy with.
ReplyDeleteHope you got some nice rain. Today has been not as much of a rainy day but we're looking at the radar and it seems there are some moving down from Dallas, currently in Waco, heading this direction.
DeleteYUM on all the food above.
ReplyDeleteWe had sever storms that moved in late afternoon/ early evening. Got some wind and a nice shower of rain but not as bad as some received in other areas.
No hail and no damage
DeleteMy love to Hobart; you sweet thing you. I miss my 2 furry babies.
Have a great holiday. No mail which means No bills :-}
