WEEKEND

Well it's been a beautiful weekend here.  Not too warm and low humidity.  Last night the low was in the 50's.  That's nice weather for us.

Here is the view from the porch Saturday.  You can see the grass is going back the other direction but it is what it is.  No mowing for sure.

The Zen Machine looked lonesome, all fixed up and no place to go, ha!  So part of the new routine now will be that even when I don't need to mow, I'm going to take it out for a spin.  I started it up, backed it out and rode around for a bit, just to keep it charged, the fuel moving around in the engine, etc.

Bill (the farm truck) always gets taken for a spin down the road, about two miles roundtrip, again, just to keep things running smoothly.  We do that every time we are out there if we're not using it for something else.

But still, it seemed a bit lonely and left out so...

 ...we got a little more bling!  It needed either a whole new steering wheel or something to cover the old one.  The old covering that was integrated onto the steering wheel was worn and bare in spots.  Obviously, replacing it would be much more difficult (and $$), so it was easier to just get a cover.  We didn't want one of those that just laces or ties on, so we found this one, a nice, padded one, that just stretches to fit.  It wasn't easy getting it on there, but once in place, it doesn't move at all and feels really comfortable to grip.

Still no rain in the forecast for another week but gorgeous weather so we'll take that.

  1. If it looks like there will be an extended period of no mowing you might want to just drain the Zen Machine's tank (or let it run until it is empty) so that gas does not go bad durring the winter. I used to do that with ours but now, rain or snow, i start them up a couple of times a month to run for about 5 minutes. I let the gas get low and only add a little at a time as needed to avoid putting bad gas in the machine. Gas will last 4 to 6 weeks before it starts to deminish so after your last mow of the season just buy what you might need to keeps thing and machines happy. As for the battery. Well, I have found that it is one of the few areas of honest advertising. If it says a 12 month battery it will die on the 366th day of use.

    1. You are awesome to share all these tips from personal experience>. Thank you for this. Interesting about the gas starting to deteriorate, the gas in our plastic can (and in the machine) stayed for a bout 12 weeks (three months) without being used. That was probably it.

  2. It's good to pay attention to the tools you need. If they feel neglected, they will stop working and look for another place to live. Our weather has been very nice since Ian came and went.

    Love,

    1. LOL, we have a vision of the truck backing up and letting the mower drive up in the back and then they pick up all the other machines (like something in Disney's Beauty and the Beast ha) and then all driving off!!! :-)

  3. That’s a good idea to take your mower out each week to keep things moving. I know Zen enjoyed its short jaunt around the Farm.
    Nice mini-facelift for Bill the truck!
    It has been gorgeous weather – a nice change from the muggy heat of summer.

  4. Zen & 'Bill' I'm sure could use the exercise every now and then. Gotta keep them in shape. :}
    Very nice steering wheel cover and yes, they do make them a tight fit.

    I have been doing some painting now that the temperatures have cooled down.
    Enjoy your day and have w wonderful weekend.
