BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

2nd Family sent this.  Sure we have our apps on our devices that tell us the temperature but seeing it in reality is another thing, ha.

About 14 degrees this morning.  Thankfully we have no moisture in the atmosphere so no sleet, ice, snow. Just bone chilling temps.  We know there are other parts of the country WAAAAY colder, but for us, this is pretty intense.  We have the lights on under the house, the heaters on in closed off kitchen and mudroom, the heat lamps in the bathroom and the water running in small streams, though in retrospect, I wish I had turned them on to a bigger stream.  But at least they aren't just dripping, so there is that...

So to distract from worrying about what's going on out there, here are some more of our ornaments including some new additions:

Here's one I got for 2nd Man on our anniversary so we could put it on the tree this year.

This Santa we've had for years but he's so neat looking and old world we had to let him make an appearance!

Here is a new one this year, sent to us by a very sweet friend.  A snowman with a galvanized bucket on his head!  I mean, come on, how fun is this?  We love it!

I think we may even have a bucket just like that at the farm!  Of course, we're not saying if we've ever had our bucket on our heads but hey, Frosty can do whatever Frosty does in his off time!

We got this one in Oklahoma (my home state) a few years ago when visiting relatives.  A Christmas themed covered wagon is pretty cool.

And this one and the next one were gifts from a coworker.  She knew of our love of sparkly old world style ornaments and the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead so she gave us these.  The white one is so pretty and looks like many of the "sugar skulls" that you see.

And then she found a yellow one that's just as pretty and unique.  Sparkly blown glass. Love it!

Hope you all are having a good weekend and staying warm wherever you are.  A friend just send me a text and said it's currently 55 degrees in Boston Massachusetts and 19 in Houston TX.  Go figure.

Happy Christmas Eve Eve...

  1. Your ornaments are beautiful. It's very windy in my part of Florida. The temperature is dropping. Franklin is in elf jammies and Penelope has a hoodie with pink polka-dots.

  3. You are colder than we are in NH. We have rain and temps above freezing. It's supposed to drop over night but not to minus. Maybe to teens.

  4. You gave your hearts to each other, and they melded into one beautiful heart! All the ornaments are lovely! I love that type ornament but only have a few. It was down to 9F in Birmingham and 1F in Cullman. Brrr. Tommy went out for the mail at 3 pm at 13F. I think it is up to 18F now.

  5. I hope you both stay warm and safe. Well done with all the "anti-freeze" work done on the farm. Here in Tauranga (where 92 year old Dad lives) today,Christmas Eve, high forecast is 24C/75.2F and Christmas Day is 26C/78.8F. Will be warmer at Dad's with its micro-climate. Thankfully we're having home hot-smoked salmon for dinner tomorrow - the half side of salmon is in the fridge - with salady things and new potatoes. Merry Christmas 2nd Man, 1st Man and Hobart. Once again, I hope you stay warm, safe and cosy, and sending a chin rub to Hobart too,

  6. Yep, it’s COLD outside. It got down to 17 this morning here. This afternoon, it only reached 33 for a couple of hours. It’s now back to below freezing.
So it was time to light the fireplace and make a big pot of chicken noodle soup. And some beer bread. The house feels and smells so cozy now.
I love your Christmas ornaments – and that each has special significance.
    Merry Christmas Eve Eve!
    Stay safe and warm!

  8. You have such a lovely tree and many beautiful ornaments along with.
You just may have to get a larger tree come next year.
Woke up to 11 deg. yesterday morning and with wind chill it was below zero. It's going to be a looooong, cold winter.
Every one stay warm, & stay safe and you all have a Very Merry & Blessed Christmas and God's Blessing in 2023.

  9. Glad you and yours are surviving this cold. We are moving out of it up here in Abilene. Today it is predicted to be mid 30s by sundown and mid week next week the mid to high 70s. After so many days now of below zero maybe my old body can stop aching. Long range forecast says a mild winter to follow into a nice Spring. For one time I am really praying the weather man gets/got it right. Happiest of Christmas' to the two of you and the boss/Hobart.

  10. I probably shouldn’t tell you, but we have 3 busted pipes and a heck of a mess so far. Yes pipes are in the attic. Deb

  11. I'm also in Massachusetts and it WAS in the 50s during that day, but dropped back to 2F that night! Quite dramatic to see the temp fall fifty degrees in a matter of hours. Happy Christmas to you and yours :) (The bucket-hatted snowman is my favorite!)
