GOOD FOOD AND HOBART SUNDAY

Another week, some more good food and of course, some Hobart.

More often, we post a good dinner or lunch we had.  Here's a breakfast we love on occasion. McCann's Steel Cut Oats (we LOVE these) with good maple syrup, butter and a bit of brown sugar.  Add some applewood smoked bacon on the side, and it's a wonderful breakfast, especially on a cold morning.

And speaking of cold, here's Hobart, after he requested to be covered (though always partially, he's not big on his head being covered like some cats) with his favorite fuzzy blanket so he could sleep warmly. Because...

  1. McCann's Steel Cut Oats has been on my table my whole life. I love it with some homemade sourdough toast. (Tim McCann)

    1. Hi!!! And welcome! ("McCann"? Any relation? Ha). We discovered it about 10 years ago and it's the only one we use, so good. And homemade sourdough toast sounds heavenly.

    1. OOOH cranberry relish mixed in? Never thought about that. We'll have to remember that. Thanks for the suggestion!

  3. How do you cook these--on stove, microwave, crockpot or oven? I have only ever had rolled oats. I have meant to try the McCann's. Maybe I will now.

    1. Stovetop, Follow the directions on the can. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil add a pinch of salt add one cup of Oats , turn down to a low boil then to a simmer. Don't let it boil over or it will make a real mess on the stovetop. Takes about a half hour to cook to the desired consistency. When done I add brown sugar, and butter and lace with whole milk. Enjoy

    2. Thank you for this That's exactly the way we do it. We also add brown sugar butter, a little maple syrup and some cream. Just such a satisfying breakfast. We always keep two cans on hand so we make sure we don't run out, ha.

  4. In our house, you have to pat down a blanket before you sit on it so you don’t squish a kitty. Usually, Sophie Kitty.

    1. LOL we can relate. One of our kitties used to bury all the way down and under any blanket. Had to do the pat down regularly ha. Hobart has never liked to be completely covered for some reason.

Hobart has instructed you well on how best to attend to his coziness.
