I had to drive out to the farm at lunch (well, lunch and a half, ha) on Friday because the mower was delivered. Even though I was going to be out there on Saturday and it would be OK to sit out overnight, there was rain in the forecast on Friday and storms on the radar.
I drove out there and back Friday morning to put it in the shed. There was heavy dew and fog earlier (you can see the wet tire tracks) but it never rained. Of course, if I had not gone out there, it would have poured, isn't that the way it always works?
Saturday I went out by myself to do yard work. 2nd Man had work to do on a project that was due Sunday. I have an app on my watch that makes an emergency call with one button push, sort of like an app version of a "Life Alert". I have 911 programmed in it and it also calls both him and 2nd Family who lives at the front of the property. I felt safe.
I also cleared with the doctor to do yardwork duties and he said it was fine. In fact, it was funny because he said "oh a Deere riding lawn tractor? That's like a luxury car, you are fine". I also asked about the weedeater and he said I should be fine with most anything.
When I got there it was 52 degrees with a strong wind. A bit chilly. I got things ready for my projects and by then it had gotten warmer and it was perfect.
Key. Check.
Mower refreshed. Check.
Full tank and backup gas. Check.
Here is part of the driveway, well, halfway through it, before...
...and here is that same angle "after". Looks nice and no longer overwhelming.
Here is alongside the garden fence. It was crazy tall. This is before...
...and this after. I will go back another time with the weedeater along the fence. That brush on the right will be removed at some point as well.
I was also able to get the trails we have created around the property.
Looks like a Beautiful park area once again.
ReplyDeleteNice to be in that nice fresh air and to getting back into doing yard work once again and getting some things accomplished.
You had same weather conditions that we had here
Have an enjoyable day along with a wonderful evening.
Cloudy and had a light shower earlier but is clearing off.
We've found we can channel the deer away from some areas just by mowing a circuitous path for them through the taller grass near the woods. Every little bit helps.
ReplyDeleteBack in the saddle, hooray! I can relate. We had a John Deere and I loved to mow, but more so when the uncut row stood up like a crewcut. I have to say I miss it since moving to the city (and getting too old to climb on) even though I blame the mower for ruining my hearing. Do you wear ear protection?
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a couple of hours makes! It’s nice to be able to get back to your usual activities.
ReplyDeleteYour expansive lawn and mowed trails are so beautiful. Perfect for rambling walks, enjoying the peace of nature.
