GOOD FOOD AND HOBART SUNDAY

We are off to a farm related appointment today and hoping we beat the rains that are coming later this afternoon.  Time for some good food and some Hobart!

2nd Man use to regularly make this, a Mexican dish called picadillo which is ground beef and potatoes in a tomato based sauce (with good seasonings of course).  With our new way of eating he decided to change it up a bit.  He used ground turkey and mushrooms with yellow squash and zucchini.  It's very good!

Hobart will be sleeping while we're gone and of course, we will have to make a warm nest for him to sleep in before we leave. Because....

  1. I make apple turkey picadillo. Includes a tomato, onions, garlic, an apple, and ground turkey and seasonings. Very healthy too.

  2. I am switching from eating keto to eating Mediterranean which, I feel, is by far healthier then keto!
You are lucky to have a chef for a hubby! Of course, I have said that before!

  4. I have never heard of picadillo. I am sure you know skin on turkey and chicken should be avoided. But, did you know the skin is ground, too?

    1. That was an accidental posting. We avoid ground turkey. Of course, we eat other things we should not. I could not find Hobart's face! He is so black and cute.

    2. Well, we learned that there are two types of ground turkey. The kind that has white and dark meat and the skin is ground as well, and the 100% turkey breast which usually avoids the skin. The reason being, the other one, while less expensive, is about 94% fat free, because they have the skin and the dark meat, the other is more per pound but is 99% fat free. We don't have it often but when we do, we strive for that one.

We often can't tell which way he is facing when he's curled up sleeping, ha.

  6. 2nd Man is such a genius at adapting favorite recipes to make them healthier yet still delicious! He could have a best-seller cookbook with his recipes.
Dear Hobart looks so comfy in his cozy nest.

    1. Ha, thanks, I tell him that all the time. Maybe when we get settled into a new place and can focus, we might work on that. I have an idea for a cookbook for something different that we've never seen before so who knows what the future holds, ha. Hobart was definitely in "nesting mode", ha.
