MOVING IS PRACTICALLY DONE

At least the part we can do.

Phew.

It was a busy weekend (week actually).  I took a day off and did more packing and moving (the books took FOREVER and the boxes were REALLY heavy).  Then, we were out there on Saturday doing more.  And then I was there on Sunday!

It was hot, feels like of 90's.  Ugh.  It's almost November, what the heck, weather?

There was so much to do but other than the big furniture that we are keeping (and the porch) it's done.

This is from the back corner toward the front.  I tried to keep it all on one side so that we will have room for the big items we are keeping (movers taking them).  It will be dining table and chairs, the yellow kitchen hutch, the two pieces in the guest room, the white canning cabinet, a marble top baking table, cedar chest, a wooden file cabinet, a coffee table and end table, and three bookcases.

We're thinking the bookcases can stack at the back and the dining table will allow us to put the chairs on top, then we can squeeze in the other things.  Fingers crossed that we planned correctly!  There might be a couple of smaller piece (and maybe even the dining room chairs) that we can stick in the barn (though it's pretty full now, ha).

OK, now this made us laugh.  You know that we've been saving up boxes from the apartment and taking them out there (it's been a godsend to have so many at our disposal, and we have extras!).  Well most are just U-Haul or Lowes or Walmart or random names.

But this one stood out:

We were a self-fulfilling prophecy and didn't know it! 😆Two men with the little truck that could!

  1. We have Two Men and a Truck movers up here in S. Colorado, too, and folks who have used them weren't very happy with them!
If the movers you hire know what they are doing, they will easily get your big pieces into your storage unit!

    1. LOL, well that's a good one not to use, ha!! We have a good rec from someone, hope it works out. We figure it's like Tetris, they just need to make it fit, ha.

  2. Mice will move into that barn. Wood furniture will start to deteriorate! Please move that into climate-controlled storage.

    1. Well we haven't had a mouse problem in all these years and there is a lot of wood furniture (dad's workbench, shelving, a drafting table, etc) in there but most of what we have put in there are the more easily breakable things to keep them safe. Oh and the metal guest bed frame is in there. We're guessing most (if not all) of what we have will fit in the climate controlled storage. But we'll definitely keep an eye on it.

    2. Having snakes on the property will do a good job in taking care of the mice and rats and that is probably why you don't have a mouse invasion.

    3. Much as we don't like snakes either, you are right, there are quite a few around and we'll let them do what they do, ha.

  4. Packing and moving is A Lot of work and can be tiresome, but in the end; it feels that all in all it's a good job done and able to move onto the next phase and brings you that much closer to accomplishment.
If the mover know what they are doing they should be able to fit all your Big items in there.
Normally movers with have their own moving blankets but You might consider in getting some moving blankets for protection to cover your furniture in storage unit just in case items are stacked on top of other pieces of furniture.

Two Men and a Truck movers; go check their reviews.
Such a cute box; something to keep and maybe have portion of it framed
Have a great day and enjoy your evening.

    1. Ha, never thought about keeping that box and cutting that out. Might just do that and frame it in the barn! We do have a few moving blankets already, good idea, thanks!

    1. Geez ... It's a loop to help pull the storage unit door down!!

    2. LOL! I hope not, ha. Yep, as Marcia said, it's the loop for the door pull.

    3. Thanks Marcia, yes, it has been well used as the door rolls up so high if you let it go all the way up, it's hard to reach the handle. :-)

    1. Thank you much. I understand about the moving dreams, or nightmares, ha. Have already had a few of those. I moved a lot growing up and can relate, though my parents usually dealt with the hard part.

  7. Moving books tip. I use only the medium size carboard boxes. Them I load 4-5 boxes on a appliance dolly and roll them around. It has save my knees many times. I have moved 17 times in 50+ years. I plan to never move again.

    1. Most of the boxes we've snagged downstairs have been medium and small and yes I love those boxes. I made the mistake of a larger one with books, that thing was not going ANYWHERE, ha. Had use three smaller ones. I never thought about an appliance dolly, I think we have one of those in the barn, though at this point I probably couldn't get to it, ha. And I understand about moving, I hope this is our last one.
