They have built out the spot where our back screen door will go from the porch into the backyard.
Side note, if you wonder why the porch walls are the same blue as the ceiling, remember that the porch walls were painted red in error. What they did was cover it in the pale blue first (to act as a base coat/primer over the red) and then they can paint the walls the white trim color like it's supposed to be.
Here is the screen door after it was delivered. We love this style, we chose it because it looks kind of like something you'd see on an old farmhouse. I remember my grandparents (both sets!) had a squeaky screen door and I loved that sound as you went in and out. I'm sure this will be nice and quiet but if it EVER develops a squeak, I told 2nd man I'm NOT oiling it, ha!
The screens go in almost last sot hey don't get damaged with the construction.

Our screen doors had a spring on it and was attached to the door frame; it slammed shut when you went in or out. We never had to worry about it being shut with the spring.
ReplyDeleteThere is something nostalgic about screen doors. I love them too.
ReplyDeleteImpressed
ReplyDeleteYES! The developing squeak is so very important. No WD40 is allowed to be used around here on the screen doors. It's part of my childhood and nostalgia. X
ReplyDeleteI love your screen door! I remember both of my grandparents’ screen doors with such love and nostalgia.
ReplyDeleteYep, if the squeak develops, let it be!
I want a screen door similar to that for our screened porch. I also want it to have a spring attached to the door jam so it will squeak when opened then have a "wham" sound when it springs back to close. It would sound like childhood again.

ReplyDeleteyes, those pneumatic closers are just NOT the same!!! And usually someone's mom or gramma yelled don't let the screen door slam as it made its way to close quicker than their words!!
