Shhhh...this is a secret. Don't want to have one of those "why do we need this?" speeches conversations. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm publishing it on a blog for the world to see, but 2nd Man never reads this, I think he's afraid of reading about himself, LOL! Anyway, I was driving home from work the other night and I saw this lonely set of shutters on the curb, calling my name.
I immediately pulled over, snatched it up and put it in the back of the car (I felt like I was doing something wrong but hey, it was on the curb where they pick up trash, what could I do?). It just had the "look" that told me I could turn it into something we could use. I need to google it and see what others do with old shutters so I can have a "plan" in case it's found. There's bound to be something fun I can create!!

DeleteI have seen several uses for old shutters, joined together to make headboard, wall art, bulletin board style for hanging items from slats, and I am sure you can think of many more uses. I will keep your secret, LOL, good score on finding them.

DeleteHow wonderful, why do I never find things like this on the curb? Even if it took me 20 years to work out what to do with it, I would have brought it home with me.
ReplyDeleteI can assure you now I'm keeping a better eye out, ha. The part of town we live in in the city is an old neighborhood (homes from the early 1900's) so there is quite often someone throwing something away. I'll keep my eyes peeled!!

DeleteFlowers. I see flowers. Put them in a flower bed and have climbing flowers climb up them. Or place a pot on a stand and have some alyssum or something cascading down.

Deleteive seen old shutters painted and distressed, hung on a wall and a certain collection of plates is hung, via clothpins attached to back of plate on it. very cute!

ReplyDeleteI've never gotten much off the curb, never really paid close attention. Then when we got the farmhouse, I started looking and I'm always seeing something now. I will keep my eyes out for sure!
