Any big, fenced in garden is an inspiration to me (and I'm working on our future garden site as we speak!). I hope to get a big flat cleared area like this one, minus the trees and hills in the background of course. Anyway, on this one, I'm most intrigued about the fence. Have you ever seen something like this?
I really like it, and I can't help it, but the first thing I thought of was The Hobbit. Go figure! It's definitely a much more whimsical design than a traditional garden fence and it looks like it's been cobbled together from timbers. Probably one of the main reasons I like it, it's not traditional!
It's still an inspiration to get our space finished so we CAN put up a fence around it before the raised beds go in. See you back here tomorrow!

DeleteDefinitely timber...I love this kind of stuff too...I used to have a bunch of that outdoor willow furniture. It was so uncomfortable to sit in, but I loved the look of it. Finally gave it away...lol
ReplyDeleteCool! We have ZERO timber like this growing on the property so I'll probably just have to dream about it, lol. It does have such a pretty look, and rustic. Love it.
DeleteLove it! And I was looking for a nice round house next to it :) Would love to have something so beautiful but reality of having wild life would require taller and stronger protection and without all those spaces for them to sneak inside
ReplyDeleteHa, there is a great space there on the right side for that 'round house' huh? I do have to wonder where this is though, like you said, animals might definitely be an issue. But I almost think I'd take the chance for something so pretty, ha
DeleteThat is just beautiful. Not very practical though. Too short to keep out deer, too big of holes to keep out rodents. I'd line it with mesh fencing that was discreet. Still, I love the look, wonder how difficult it would be to replicate it?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how difficult (looks beyond my skill level currently, ha) but I do think it's so neat. I was thinking it might even HAVE some mesh on there if you zoom in you can kind of see something. But yeah, deer would just jump right over the top, ha. "all you can eat buffet"!

ReplyDeleteMaybe later on down the road. I do however have an spot about that size, maybe a bit bigger, almost cleared of brush and trees, almost ready to start planning some fencing. I've got the wood for the raised beds ready as well. I just realized i wouldn't make it for spring planting so I concentrated on the land and making sure I do it right from the beginning. Fingers crossed it all keeps going smoothly. ;-)

Deletethe fence looks bamboo or some type of wood you might get wet and bend the shapes
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. There is a name for that particular style of fencing, but I cannot recall it at this moment. I cannot wait to see what you make of your garden spot.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first looked at this fence, I thought it was impractically short also. But then I looked a bit harder and I think it is a trick of perspective. I mean the camera is up high, looking down, so the fence looks shorter than it really is.
If you look at the gate area, someone has to be able to walk under the stick over the gateway so it's got to be at least 6' tall. The corn on the right side, and the tree near the back corner also help in correcting the perspective issue. It looks like the fence might be near 6', which is high enough to keep deer out for the most part.
I love this whimsical fence. Maybe it's not entirely practical for a garden, but you could incorporate it into another area of your little farm!
