SEED CATALOG PALOOZA 2013

Ah, it's that time of year.

Outside, there's only cold, damp, and gray Winter weather...depressing to say the least.

Depressing that is until...you check the mailbox.  And there it is.  Peaking out from between the electric bill and the grocery sale papers and the envelopes addressed to occupant.  Those ubiquitous 5 letters somewhere on the cover:

"S E E D S"

Then you see another and another, and the next day yet another one comes and then the cycle is repeated for the next week or two.  Suddenly your table is filled with dreams of Spring.

The images remain dancing in our heads.  The colorful and fragrant flowers.  The delicious and tasty vegetables.  The sweet and luscious fruits.  The strange and exotic plants.

Gardens.
Flower beds.
Containers.
Yards.
Endless Possibilities!

I have gathered all of mine (plus some that didn't make it to the photo op) into a pile, made a nice hot drink to counteract the cold and took out my marker.

You can plant seeds anywhere you have dirt and want to try to grow something.  Seed catalogs are the ultimate in hope for the future.

Let the planning begin!

P.S. Don't forget to enter the book giveaway this month.  Only 15 entries so far, and we're giving away TWO books so your odd are pretty good!

  1. Snap, I'm doing exactly the same. People who don't know the joy of gardening would think we were made getting so very excited over seed catalogues, but like you , I make a cup of tea of coffee, and sit with my marker pen getting oh so excited over it all. What could be better.

  3. Yes, hours of pleasure
    - and hours of delicious day dreaming too.
Bulb catalogues are always a big favourite of mine. I love looking at the images that accompany each bulb. I think: I wish my garden looked like that!

    1. I haven't ever gotten a lot of bulb catalogs. I'll have to look for some to order. Yes, I do see the pictures and go "I want my yard to look like that!", ha.

    1. Self control is a great trait to have in the garden, ha. I could go crazy and already almost have. 2nd Man saw my list and said 'um, you know, this is our first garden this year, we don't have to go crazy'. Damn his logic, ha. I'm scaling back a bit but if I got a few extra things, no one would know, right? ;-)

    1. Hopefully next year we can be like you and have seeds saved and not have to go crazy with seed ordering next season. Happy Anniversary by the way!!! Much love to you both.

  7. I can't even think about seeds right now. It was a balmy 6 degrees when I went to church this morning. Wind chill below zero :(
