RUSTIC ARBOR, INSPIRATION THURSDAY

Country arbor, image from Sunsetliving.com
I'm sure this was probably set up or decorated for a wedding, but whatever the reason, it's just so pretty to have a rustic structure like this over in a corner of the yard.  We have so many places on the property that we could do something like this and so we saved this photo to remind us someday of what we could do.

It's nice how an arbor, even without being attached to another structure like a fence or gazebo, just frames a yard and sort of beckons you to walk through it.  We could totally see this on one of the trails.

Have a great day!
Be inspired!

  1. this is similar to the one i had built and am about to take down. it has lasted 10 years. if i repaired it, it would last at least 5 more.

    1. Maybe I should start saving wood as things get cut down. That's good to know they can last a long time. I think 10 years is a good long time. :-)

  2. I LOVE structures made from natural material!!! I made a fence once. My daughter loved it so much they built one on their property. I can see this arbor leading into a path in the woods somewhere. Gorgeous!!!

    1. That might be the reason we were so drawn to it, the natural material and rustic look. I love the natural look of it. Wouldn't it be so pretty just as an opening to a path into the woods?

  3. So lovely! I love natural materials - this would fit perfectly into your country setting. Do you have any wild mustang grapes on your property? Their natural curlicues and curves would make great accents on an arbor like this.

    1. We don't have any wild mustang grapes (oh how I wish we did, though there are some big trees I can't get to at the moment, blocked by brush and such) perhaps there are some there. I DID buy some muscadine vines last Fall. That could work as well I suppose? This won't be something we will do this Spring/Summer but it might be a possible Fall project. Thanks!!

  4. I start my morning with your blog, I read it while having breakfast. This picture has just caused quite a bit of discussion between my husband and I. We are wanting to do a gazebo/arbour but have stalled due to the costs. As soon as I saw the above picture it backed up my suggestion of sourcing what we need from the property. Hell, every building on the property is rustic and mostly sourced from the property anyway, so it could only add to the ambiance. Thank you for that.

    1. Well aren't you sweet! Hope I didn't cause any morning family drama, LOL! Isn't the natural part of it nice? It's funny, because there are a million arbor pictures out there, and most are just prefab or prebuilt kinds. When we saw this one, it actually looked like something we could take wood from the property tree trimmings and make something. Good luck!!! Keep us posted if you get something made.

    1. Ha, isn't it pretty? And you know it does LOOK easy but I'm sure saying that and doing that are two entirely different things. Thanks for stopping by!!! Always nice to 'see' you.
