DEWBERRY JAM IS DELICIOUS

Homemade dewberry jam
Last week, I blogged about my first canning from scratch experience.  I made "dewberry jam".  Several of you asked how it was.  Well it came out beautiful and delicious.  Here it is on some homemade biscuits that 2nd Man cranked out one morning.  He wanted to do something different and made "biscuit sticks".  The jam was a perfect accompaniment to them.  Thick, chunky bits of dewberries, sweet with just a bit of tartness.  It was just too good.  So neat to think that we gathered berries that were growing wild on our farm and then made the into jam that we ate for breakfast!

Very rewarding in more ways than one!

Dewberry Jam with biscuits
Hope you are ready for the weekend.  Any big plans?  Or just same old same old as they say?  Hope you enjoy doing whatever makes you happy!

  1. The jam looks delicious! I tried making jam about six months ago, I bought a huge box of strawberries, they were pretty ripe, however I didn't realise that if too ripe, there won't be enough pectin, it was still nice jam, just wish it had set a bit more. You have inspired me to have another go ;)

    1. We did use a bit of pectin in this and it really helped it come out. I didn't use the whole package because I didn't want it to affect any taste. Since it was the first attempt I figured I needed some help, ha.

  2. Those are cute biscuits. I was expecting to see round ones, not rectangular. Jam looks delicious on them.

    1. He cooks round usually, on occasion he changes it up and does square, but this time he surprised me by doing these sticks. It was kind of cool and they tasted just as good, ha. Thanks!!

  3. You both are so clever! Isn't it great when you eat your own produce?

    1. You know, I thought about that. By next year, we'll be more adept at making them and then I won't worry about wondering if they all came out. :-) Thank you for stopping by too, and commenting!!

  8. Can't wait for ours to get ready. Mulberries are getting close. While we were out driving the property last night, we were looking at the berries. My oldest daughter said it smelled so good outside. My youngest pipes in, "It smells like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." She was already anticipating the jelly from the berries!

Slightly tart jelly is the best!

    1. You know I don't think I've ever had mulberries. I love the 'peanut butter and jelly' comment, how observant!! (and delicious, seems no matter how old we are, they are still good huh?).

I'm glad to hear others enjoy slightly tart jelly and jam. :-)
