WE HAVE A BARN PART TWO

For those who may have missed part one this morning, CLICK HERE to read all about the first part of the barn building project.

So after Thursday, I got up Friday morning and we still had a barn in the yard...it wasn't a dream after all!

2nd Family's horse Artax was excited about the new addition to our farm, coming down to visit and peering over the back pasture fence.  Alas Artax, it's not for you...but you can come visit anytime!

The guys showed up again bright and early and with another trailer full of pieces...but for what?  Wasn't the barn almost finished Thursday?

It's for a second building!  Yep, we decided to just go for it and get two done at once.  This one went up even faster...

...because the second one is smaller than the barn.  We're calling it a shed and it will have a specific use.

Lastly, they got it roofed and finished, the doors put on both, touched up the paint wherever needed, and left.
Two Red Barns side by side
And we now have two new outbuildings on our property!  It's funny, "J" from 2nd Family was sitting on the porch with me as we were watching and she said "all you need are some bales of hay and a horse sticking out of them".

It definitely looks like a farm and after three years of me posting inspiration pictures about classic red American barns, we now have TWO!

Tour of the inside tomorrow!

    1. LOL! Bulk, I never thought about that. Dang, and I don't think we got a discount for buying two at the same time, I should have asked, ha.

    1. Aww, sorry! Hey, if it's any consolation, I'm sure it will fill up fast, LOL!

  3. Congratulations! Amazing the difference building down South versus up here in the frozen tundra. We have to dig 4-foot deep footers in order to get below the frost line. Have great fun filling up your new barns! They're just wonderful.

    1. Definitely no frost lines here. Grateful for that. Of course, in the Summer here, it's so freakin' hot, I probably won't be out there using them much like you might up that direction. :-)

    1. LOL! You know you are both welcome anytime! It's funny you said that, after these were finished and I was doing the walkthrough, and my mouth was just hanging open at how 'new' and 'beautiful' they were, I told the guy it's kind of sad when new storage sheds are nicer than the outside of your main house. He laughed. And hey, your cottage is home that's all that matters.

    1. OMG, a woman after my own heart....last night I was looking at the picture of the two, and the larger one seemed like it needed a rooster weathervane on the top!!! I was even looking at them online. Of course 2nd Man said "um, we don't have a ladder that will reach that high". Oops!

  9. Is the big one for chickens? Those are great looking buildings, and I know you will have fun filling them and using them. Now, I want one for my yard.

    1. We'll do a chicken coop when we get ready for chickens, so the big one will still be workshop/barn use. We are excited to get to using them.

  10. Lovely barn and shed. Smart getting two rather large ones. It doesn't take long to fill them up. You are doing like we did before moving out and I going to tell you before you know it all you are think about is moving out. My husband traveled back and forth to work 30 miles each way for about 2 years. We both love living out and have no desire to live in town again.

    1. LOL, I love the way you think. Lately we're thinking of the pros and cons of working in town and living out of town. It would be about 40 miles one way for each of us, and while the distance doesn't bother us so much, the traffic that we'd sit in would be pretty bad. That's probably the main thing keeping us in town...but that's also what moves the needle a bit more toward the farm too. Thanks for the advice, we'll take it to heart. :-)
