STORMY DAY AGAIN

After another week of rainy days, yesterday was hit and miss, ending with rain.  Saturday was a muddy mess out there and not much got done.  I couldn't even check the bees because it kept sprinkling and I didn't want to open the top of the hive and have water come in.  That's not a good thing for the bees.

This morning we awoke to clear skies in town and were hopeful, but on the radar, there were big ones coming.  We stayed in town.  Above is the current radar image at the farm.  I had 2nd Family send a picture from the farm so we could see it and share it with everyone.  Here is that photo:

Storm clouds coming
There is an ominous beauty about storm clouds like this (along with a healthy dose of respect).  They will be keeping an eye on the sky and seeking shelter if necessary.  We're just bracing for it to hit in town, it's about an hour away.

Such a wet season we've had this year.  We'll never complain about too much water, but just wish it would take the weekends off, ha.

More later!

  3. Just had a storm hit Seguin this morning. Woke to thunder; Mother Nature's alarm clock. The rain started at 8 a.m. and went on until almost 11:30. The humidity right now is out of this world. All I can say is, after years of drought I am happy no matter what that we get rain here in Texas.

    1. Yes, true for sure about the drought. I'd rather be 'ahead' on rainfall than behind. Today was good napping weather...except for the thunder.

  4. WHAT a sky. I hope you were safe.
And that the rain goes elsewhere next weekend.

    1. That was ominous huh? Nothing bad, as bad as it looked like it might have been from those clouds. Lots of rain, about another inch or so. And yes, just a nice clear weekend is all we want, ha.

    1. Thank you, we stayed in and away from windows...and all we got was some lightning and a lot more rain. Now it's clear. And wet. And muddy. Ha.

  6. Here in San Antonio we've had a very wet time as well. I finally got out my weed eater and the leaf blower and my junior zen machine and attacked the jungle that I call a yard. I hate to mow when the ground is soft as it has been now for two weeks because of the rain but something had to be done since neighbors on either side mowed and shamed me into it. Got it done just in time. It blitzed and thundered and poured again this morning. Well, this is Texas. We'll be looking for this moisture come July and August. And, as Leeanna says in Seguin just east of us here in SA, the humidity, it's a bear.

    1. Hello Jim!!! I've heard (and saw on the radar) that it was bad your direction too. By the way, just love San Antonio. It's one of our favorite places to take a quick weekend trip.

It's hard to mow when it's so wet and then it seems to grow exponentially, ha. Neighbor shaming, we get that in town...but out at the farm, hey, the only neighbors who might complain are the cows, LOL!

And don't get me started on the humidity. Ugh. That can almost be like a light rain itself, ha.

  8. Cannot remember this much rain on a constant basis and the quantity we are getting! Its wonderful for sure, though I do feel bad for the folks that the storms have either been tornadoes or flooded their homes. But we so needed all this rain. Its just a bit of a challenge to adjust to it LOL

    1. I'm glad it's not just us wondering that. I really don't remember this much either. We usually get these kinds of rains from tropical disturbances along the coast but this is just one thunderstorm after another. We needed it but it is creating a unique gardening challenge this season for sure!

  9. Was without internet service all day yesterday due to the heavy rain storm that moved in early in the morning hours. Woke up around 12:30;1:00am to loud cracks of thunder and the lightening show and then around 1:30 the rains came and it rained, and it rained (very hard rain)until around 6:30am when it finally let up.
Rained so hard for so long that we ended up with over 5 inches; our gauge runneth over but I would say that we probably received close to 7 inches of rain this morning. Of course with all that rain, there was flooding in our county. We had to wait before going into town due to the fact that parts of the highway out here was flooded but all and all we're safe; wet, but safe.
Turned out to be a beautiful day; humid and muggy, but at least we seen the sun. More rain in the forecast for every day this week and into the weekend.
    Now; does Anyone have plans on building an Ark? :}

    1. We got another 3 inches at the farm this morning and then it cleared up. Now they are saying more rain wednesday. Everything is so super started that any more significant rain could cause some major problems...fingers crossed!

  11. 1st Man,

How are your bee's doing with all this rain? Hopefully soon we both will be able to dry out a bit and grow stuff in our gardens without having to do the back stroke to just get to the garden, lol....

    1. They look good but I didn't open the hive too much and poke around because it was starting to rain and I didn't want rain to fall inside, it can confuse them. Will have to wait until this weekend. Fingers crossed!!
