Every Thursday, we like to post a picture of something we've found online that inspires us to do something similar at the farm.
Sort of our own blog bulletin board so that we can eventually look back and, hopefully anyway, recreate it...enjoy!

This kind of dovetails nicely with the table set up we posted a few weeks back for the garden. A nice long table. I think it's the chairs that we like in this, combined with the rustic table of course, but they do look nice.
We have two major areas for future dining. One is under the tree beside the house (a tree we've named Barnabas) and the other is in the garden. That table will be for more than just dining, it would also be for sitting and laying out vegetables as we harvest, sitting and planning future expansion, or just taking a break during working.

This is such a beautiful space, reminds me of Alice's tea party or something! I think the greeny blue chairs look very pretty too.

DeleteI am not fond of turquoise chairs, but I am in love with those. A thought for your garden table to put vegetables--make sure you have water outdoors, even if you have to run a hose across the ground and some sort of sink...okay maybe a big galvanized tub. You can run the rinse water back to the garden. This way, you will not be dragging dirt into the house. They do make sinks on legs that are very moveable. And, you might find one you can sit on a small table or the one you lay vegetables on.
ReplyDeleteI had the one that stands in the yard and does not freeze, with a handle that lifts. If I did not have that, I would have to go down basement steps, taking my life in my own hands...or feet.
The other day, I saw a table made by Mennonites. It was cedar, not a board but just a center cut, it appeared, from a tree. The edges of the table were wavy and not cut at all, not straight like all our tables are. Of course, the cedar would outlast us all.
Oh, I already have the chandelier for the tree.

DeleteIt's really lovely. We have scattered around the enclosed house area, chairs and tables galore. Most of the tables are little round things, just big enough for a cuppa and a plate or two of food and we have a large outdoor table under the eves of the house. We will pick different areas to have our morning and afternoon tea. I do confess though, with all the chairs everywhere, it must look like we are lazy sods!!!!!!!

You will have so much fun hunting for all your bits and pieces, weekend drives and picnics to country sales or jumble shops in out of the way places that are an adventure just to find them and lunches or coffee breaks in charming cafes that only serve homemade goods....let the fun begin
Someone needs to look through the dozens of old chairs in my basement for a project I had planned. Well, I did use about a dozen and then health issues intervened. Anyone in N Al or coming through is welcome to all of them. I am serious! Of course, it would not be a plausible drive for 1st Man.

ReplyDeleteThe table areas will come to fruiting sooner rather than later. 2nd Family is keeping an eye on a place that may have the table, and I'm looking for chairs now (other than the freebie metals ones, ha). I'm just torn which space to do first, under the tree or out in the garden. Now we just need some cooler weather to start these projects. :-)
DeleteLove the rustic look and feel and I thought; what great surroundings to hold a garden party, birthday gatherings or any special occasion or just a place to enjoy and relax and listen to the birds and surrounding sounds.
ReplyDeleteA nice and quiet relaxing area for sure. Some adults relaxing, enjoying a nice cold brew and others nearby playing fun yard games and little ones swinging away on a tree swing.
